I'm always surprised when anyone asks me for advice on making cel shaded renders as I'm very much still learning #Blender3D myself and scraping by on tutorials. 😅

But of course, everyone needs to start somewhere, so here's a thread with what I've learned so far and some good tutorials I've used! 🧵

Okay this is super super cool. According to this new paper, the enigmatic pillar-like prototaxites (which has for a while been thought to have been some kind of giant fungus) is actually not only *not* a fungus but seems to not be related to any modern branch of life!
Our paper on the mysterious Devonian organism Prototaxites has now finally been published! See the paper here (www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...) and our explainer thread below!

Wikipedia turns 25 today! 🎂📚

To celebrate, we’re looking back at its baby pictures—some of the earliest captures of the site, preserved in the #WaybackMachine.

Take a nostalgic peek at early Wikipedia ⤵️

It sure would be great to start 2026 without the ghost of the 60s–70s hovering over Latin America, but I suppose that'd be too much to ask, huh?

I know this is the linguistic prescriptivist in me speaking, but it really drives me INSANE when people use “compute” as a noun, let alone an adjective.

We had a word for that, it's called COMPUTING.

“We need more compute.”
“Our system has compute.”
WORDS DREAMT UP BY THE UTTERLY INSANE.

Pirate the series. Make your own physical media. That's the only answer when this happens and they haven't put it out any other way.
‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’ is scheduled to leave Netflix on February 21, 2026.

I have one other gift to share for my 40th Birthday: TrekCaptains. I'm releasing the first version of my perfect Star Trek game publicly, for free, for testing and play.

I've talked a lot about this game over the past decade. now it's time to share
