I've already seen Syria used as vindication of the idea you can in fact "remake the Middle East" through force.

But Assad's fall, the weakening of Hezbollah, the humbling of Iran have not remade anything.

They are the equivalent of re-breaking a bone that was poorly set.

It still must re-heal.
