I was (sleepily) reading I Who Have Never Known Men and thought “wow this story seems super familiar!” Turns out, I already read it in 2023 and totally forgot*.

I really and truly despise the current standard for television series to be 8-10 series. I want more depth to the B plots! Like execs, hear me out, we don’t have to go back to 22 episodes but like can we at least get 15-ish episodes? Why can’t that be the standard 😭

Finished #HouseOfGuiness today, and I must admit I loved it. Of course, there are some inaccuracies, and it’s heavily stylised, but it’s *fun* and great storytelling. I loooved the development of the two brothers’ relationship. Here are some other thoughts:

This gets to something that as a former stand-up I recognized but couldn’t name. A 31 year old professional content creator baiting 19 year old amateurs into the format of his choice isn’t debate, it’s crowd work. It’s debate-shaped crowd work farmed for content.
One thing that I think some not-youngs forget (and is different from 20 years ago) is that Kirk used his ‘debates’ to generate video that could go viral and, to use an old phrase, catapult the propaganda. His debates weren’t in any way, shape, or form educational.
When Charlie Kirk, who put together lists of professors he didn't like so people could target & harass them, used the phrase "free speech", he used it in the same way creationists use "teach the controversy." For Kirk, it was just another way to bludgeon the left and also to promote his propaganda.

Got injections into the right of some spinal joints today, and I’ve been so wobbly and lopsided since, it’s a very weird sensation but hopefully this helps with the pain 🤞

Why doesn’t RTE, or someone officially stream EP? Tried to watch Chappell Roan on the only available live stream I could find, someone’s TikTok, it was awful quality, they were just showing their friends and chatting, and then it cut out after like 4 songs 😭

I can’t say I’m surprised John Boyne, author of “my brother’s name is Jessica” is transphobic (also let’s not forget he got in a fight with the Auschwitz Memorial). He’s a disgrace to Irish Writers imo.
Just in case anyone was confused about John Boyne's stance on the wider LBGTQIA+ community and the "nonsence" of our existence, or of his ableism for that matter!

I’ve been reading Project Hail Mary via #audiobook bc it came highly recommended (plus I wanted to before the movie comes out). Holy fuck am I glad I’m listening it! All the numbers would’ve caused my eyes to glaze over 😭
