I'm American and I sign off on this 100%. I'd even take it further; get rid of them altogether. If you want to see cool lights in the sky drone shows exist now. They're WAY cooler than any fireworks.
I'm sorry, but Americans' obsession with fireworks is stupid. Professionally done fireworks where the community gathers is a fine tradition, but fireworks should not be available in stores to set off in your backyard and disturb the neighborhood and traumatize dogs and wildlife.

Most likely an order came from above about it, giving further credence to Ollang use being real
