I can't remember what year it was, but the first year I had my Wii I had some issue with my computer, so I used my Wii browser to file my taxes.
It was excruciating (imagine using a Wii remote to enter all that information) but I can say that I did it, and it makes me laugh.

I still remember being at an art supply store when they had to bring one of those out because the lines were down and my younger sister saying "What is THAT?" in a very confused tone. I of course withered into dust immediately.
If you paid with a credit card they would put carbon paper slips over it and run a small press contraption over it to make an impression. Or they'd have to write the number down.
