As one of the attorneys for the late USCP Officer Brian Sicknick, this notion is a disgraceful lie being argued by those who supported the insurrectionist like activities that occurred on January 6, 2021.

Shame on anyone who actually supports law enforcement to make such an equation or statement.
Great news for the family of Brian Sicknick "Zero law enforcement officers lost their lives."

In two days there will be a vote on making Trump seek Congressional approval before invading Greenland.

Dems (except maybe Fetterman?) will vote to limit his authority. Republicans will probably line up behind Trump. If you want to better direct your energy... www.politico.com/live-updates...
Greenland war powers vote could be heading to Senate floor
Sen. Ruben Gallego said he will introduce a war powers resolution to forestall a U.S. invasion of the Danish territory.

Anniversaries of national disasters are usually dull because everyone agrees they were bad. But January 6's is unique because the guy responsible for the riot, and the deaths, is the president and using his power to try to make us all accept his "day of love" bullshit. www.axios.com/2026/01/06/t...

It is not difficult to understand. It's impossible to find the Republicans with the morals left to do something about it. Roll on the mid terms.
The constitutional remedy for a president who launches a war of acquisition against an ally is impeachment, removal, disqualification, and ultimately a criminal trial. And the same is true for every member of his cabinet involved in such an illegal undertaking.

And then there's this video, of officers talking with each other about what they just witnessed.

"We didn't have a chance," one officer said. "[Trump] was still giving his speech, and I just had to leave, because he's basically just telling people to come down here and rip this place down."

I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

Maybe we didn't want this in all its particulars -- maybe we didn't want to see the ugliness so obvious, so close up -- but we wanted a flailing, adolescent tantrum against Mom, against the rules, against restraints, against norms & strictures, against "woke." We wanted a rumspringa, and we got it.

For me J6 was a final, unmistakable signal: this is all out in the open. There are no more dog whistles, no more hints & suggestions. Nothing is hidden. Words are pointless -- there's nothing to uncover, nothing to point out. If you see this & continue down the same path, *it's because you want it*.

A little too late, Senator but I will take late over never.
Sen. Tillis denounces Trump's pardons of J6 insurrectionists: "We let bad people go, and we sent the message that if you come to this Capitol and you have the right president in office, he's gonna get you get past things that not anyone of us would get away with if we did it back in our home state"

Hear us out.
All we have to do is steal MikeRogers’ (AL-03) toupee so he won’t show his face in public for a vote, and the Dems will have a 2 vote majority in the House...
With the retirement of Marjorie Taylor Greene, and the passing of LaMalfa, it looks like the GOP no longer holds a working majority until his seat is filled. It’s at 217. They need 218 for a majority.

I don't know George personally beyond our interactions on social media, but I have one specific reason for thinking his candidacy a great idea.

Congress is full of people wanting a lifetime sinecure. George just wants to be part of the process of holding Trump to account, and he will. Good luck.
I’m running for Congress in NY-12, my home.

We need Democratic fighters who will defend the rule of law and deliver government by the people. Join us.

This AM, I put out an issue of my OUR LAND newsletter noting that Trump had taken an Orwellian approach to erasing the 1/6 insurrectionist riot.

link.motherjones.com/public/43368...

But I'm still surprised by the blatant & brazen rewriting of history by the Trump White House's new 1/6 website.
The Trump WH today triples down on the claim that there is "no evidence of armed rebellion or intent to overthrow the government" by Trump supporters on Jan. 6, 2021. Obviously that's a brazen lie, as shown by extensive court documents, video recorded by Trump's own supporters, and other evidence 👉
2/ Trump quickly had lots of help from compliant Republicans pushing a key lie about Jan. 6: the absurd claim that it was a peaceful 'love fest' and that no one had been armed. But as our investigation made clear, many Trump supporters brought guns that day: www.motherjones.com/criminal-jus... 2x
