I like to jump from one creative project to the next, but I am currently working on finishing up a board game I've designed and hope to eventually turn into a digital game.

I have an abstract strategy #boardgame in the late stages of playtesting, available free on screentop.gg and tabletop sim -working on a standalone app.

Would love for you to check it out and/or come by and say hello on our discord server!

Slowly making progress on the digital implementation of my #boardgame Amalgam. #indiedev & #gamedev is a slow process - but I am having fun learning along the way.

My friend Paweł is starting to make some animations/art to hopefully start getting rid of the placeholders.

Anyone else really *want* to like #chess but is just far too impatient...among probably other things.... #boardgames

Another update on my #indiedev progress.
Without knowing the rules, it probably just looks like a bunch of gibberish, but I promise I am making progress :)

Remember, kids. Game design is

57% art
28% science
69% faffing about thinking about other things
11% scrolling social media
32% arguing
16% tears
48% math

Took 25 years, but I got these down EXACTLY

Been working on cleaning up code mostly to make everything work together a little more as expected. Still have a lot to do, but it's starting get some more progress. (basic movement/attack/ability logic is complete minus the Void amplification for each ability) #indiedev #boardgames #gamedev #Godot

Random thought:
The more I look at the word "queue" - it's quite a strangely spelled word...

This is actually pretty great! 🎲✂️
In many cases, there's no need for satire when you just make the game about the thing.

Check out Hollandspiele's Doubt is Our Product (tobacco misinformation) or GMT's Cross-Bronx Expressway (urban development).

That said, I did just make this: stickydoodler.itch.io/dacacah
Dice against Cubes against Cards against Humans by Sticky Doodler
a TTRPG about making a boardgame about a party game

🎲✂️ Has anyone ever thought about making a satirical board game about ongoing issues?

One of those where each character such as "John Smith" is obviously x, y, or z in real life...and the game just makes fun of a whole situation while also being quite spot on about the current situation of things?

🎲✂️ as a hobbyist who feels it highly unlikely that his game will get physically published (working towards digital implementation) -its extremely challenging to balance "marketing"/finding players and actually working on the game design & implementation. (...)

I played my first game of Regicide with the wife today! It was a lot of fun :)

It's nice to be able to play with a standard deck of playing cards. We got to the Kings, and the first one was a Spade - we barely defeated it, then instantly lost against the next King.

Working on the digital implementation of #boardgame in #Godot. I have implemented all of the movement and standard attacks as shown in the video below - now I just have to implement the abilities! :)

PS: It's a competitive abstract strategy.

ATTENTION INDIE DEVS!

I'll be doing a live stream showing off a bunch of indie games on January 11 @ 5PM EST/10PM UTC. If you worked on a game in 2024 and have a Steam page with a (stream safe) trailer, reply with a link before the end of the year.

I have an issue that's been bothering me for a while, and I am ready to try and find a solution, but I'd like some feedback from all the 🎲✂️'s here:

Each player has different pieces that are differentiated through colors, and each player uses WHITE or BLACK pieces...

I'm curious about those who are a fan of #boardgames - what is your favorite genre?

I need feedback again please! 🎲✂️ #boardgames

I am not sure if this looks too..."cartoon-y", or like I am promoting to young children?

I genuinely can't tell if I love or hate this haha.

I need honest feedback if I need to trash this concept/style or not...please help 😅!

I had a great time playtesting this the other day on BMG! It's nice seeing it pop up in my BluSky feed.
I haven’t talked about it in a while but Spindletop is very much still in development, Texagons and all. In the most recent iteration, the poker has taken a back seat to the economic Euro part of the game, although you can still win useful rewards from having the best hand each round. 🎲✂️

🎲✂️ Been looking at this for far too long, I need an extra set of eyes:

Old: Standard abilities on top half of page, and amplified on bottom half.

New: Standard abilities on left half, and amplified on the right.

Does the new one look better, or am I better off with the old one?

🎲✂️ Does anyone have any experience attempting to design a language learning board/card game? I've been toying with this idea for quite a while now and would love some inspiration if anyone has suggestions of other language games that might exist. 1/

🎲✂️ Just had a impromptu play-test that went really well! :D

It's such a great feeling when you can tell someone is genuinely enjoying your game and wants to keep playing. 🥹

Student games at PAX Unplugged! 🎲✂️ @am0.bsky.social and I have three students in our Tabletop Design Studio elective this year. They’ve spent the past 10 or so weeks working on board game prototypes, and they’ll be playtesting them in the Unpub room on Friday and Saturday. Here are the games:

🎲✂️ How do you interpret/reflect on feedback given from play-testers that are *not* your target audience? Especially if it's repeat feedback from different play-testers, however, it's not mentioned from play-testers who *are* your target audience?
