I put down some thoughts about game design, what it’s good for, and what it isn’t good for in this zine!

Plus, a short guide to help get you started making a game if you’ve never done that before: gregisonthego.itch.io/rulebooks-fo...

CHECK THIS OUT!!!

(the last two in particular are very exciting to me)
Next Tuesday, I am launching a 7-day campaign for a collection of four handmade #TTRPG zines.

These are all small-form, one-page, 8-fold, no-staple zines with full games in them.

I'll explain the four zines in this thread.

Thanks for sharing.

Heated Rivalry x The Shire fic when?
Oh, this is easy. Merry and Pippin (who are hobbits, I believe), finally admit their affection for each other, moments after the third book closes. The new couple open an LGBT center for queer hobbits (and all others) in the shire, welcoming the new generation of queer people with open arms.

I had a great time teaching Keep the Faith at Stony Point Center last week! These folks weaved some incredible tales of religions that worshipped electricity, educated children, and invoked Coca-Cola as a sacred beverage.
As Keep the Faith nears our warehouses, we are excited to share some recent images from the Theology of Play Convention (TOPCON) hosted by Stony Point Center where participants played the game! (Thanks to @gregisonthego.bsky.social for the pictures!)

Yesssss I love it! #KTFShareTheLore to share the pictures and stories you create with Keep the Faith.
We love to see it, @gregisonthego.bsky.social! How about #KTFShareTheLore? We're excited to hear the stories and lore from everyone who plays Keep the Faith!
Keep the Faith is beginning to ship to backers! Here's me signing one of the first copies at a small convention I attended last week

If you get a copy, I'd love to see it and see how your Aspects stacked up on different Values as you play. Maybe @cmichpress.bsky.social can propose a good hashtag?

Ranged Touch is great. I listen to Game Studies Study Buddies, which has improved my scholarship and clarified my thinking around games, and Shelved by Genre, which is just good fun.
Today is my birthday and all I’m asking for is for you to support and/or talk about your favorite Ranged Touch show or project!

Upper Deck has announced that they have acquired the Harry Potter license for a series of trading cards. They have not yet said that they will be using this license for games, and we urge them to refrain from doing so, to help keep gaming a welcoming environment.
The leadership of the Tabletop Game Designers Association was disappointed to see the publisher CGE touting Codenames: Back to Hogwarts, a new Harry Potter-themed version of Codenames.

Asking for an interested third party: what are some good gear recommendations (cameras, mics, lights, etc) for streaming board games and RPGs?

I already mentioned virtual tabletops to them

I try to maintain some emotional distance while writing, which is an analytical exercise for me.

But I wept through much of this, because the videos of Trump’s fascist assault are hard viewing.

But they also convinced me we will win. Here’s why.

I’m floored by Dan’s thoughtful, thorny, personal engagement with Keep the Faith.

“As a historiographical toolkit, it’s without parallel. Just flipping through the cards is a useful exercise, demonstrating how faith and religion can intersect with things both large and benign”

Thank you!
