There's been a lot of discussion in recent days about the influence of the Stranger in local elections. I had a lot to say about their impact in school board races, which is so decisive that we could say they now effectively appoint the board:
Issue 2 -- Habemus Directores!
In this issue: * School Board Elections: A New Hope * The Stranger-Appointed School Board * The Stranger Waged War on Sarah Clark * What We Are Reading All articles in this issue are by Robert C...

I’m starting to think the 2nd downtown tunnel is not the place to make cuts.
Univ of Washington, Capitol Hill, Westlake, Symphony, Pioneer Square, and Intl Dist/Chinatown Stations are closed until further notice due to tunnel ventilation issue.

I think we all need to be talking about how nice having a one seat ride on link from UW station to Marymoor will be. We’ll finally be able to take Link from one station to another and ride back entirely on off street bike trails. That doesn’t exist with any other station pair today.
The system maps in Link trains are now officially torturing, er, tantalizing us.

I find it rich that Ann Davison, who became a Republican in 2020 when Trump was first elected, is trying to fundraise by saying she’s helping the city fight Trump 🙄🙄🙄 Vote Erika Adams for City Attorney! #Seattle

Sorry to post again on this but nothing will change unless we persistently, annoyingly demand better.

Two weeks ago the federal workers union urged Schumer to reject the GOP funding bill. Schumer instead led Dems to surrender. And then Trump escalated his attacks. Inexcusable and unforgivable.
The worst thing the federal government has done to unions in my lifetime happened last night. The second worst thing was three weeks ago.

The labor movement will either protect ourselves right now or be smashed. That's all there is to it.

Congratulations to everyone who said Trump was "pro-worker," he just gutted federal workers' bargaining rights, tore up their contracts and effectively decertified nearly every federal union. www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/...

Taxing buses and e-bikes to fund highway expansion projects is madness. And yet, that's what is being proposed.
If you expect better from the Washington State senate, fill out TCC's action alert right now ⬇️
The Senate transportation budgets contain things we love ($450 million for safety on main street highways!) and others we strongly oppose, like new taxes on buses and e-bikes. Join us in asking legislators to say "no" to these taxes.

Democrats didn’t write this bill, but if we did—we would have protected public schools. We'd put veterans first.

We would have protected our public lands, your health care, and lifesaving cancer research, for god’s sake!

I am voting NO on cloture, final passage—all of it.

look at the racial diversity map.

compare it to where the neighborhood centers are going.

now look at the displacement map.

these are planned in some of the places least at risk of displacement.

these are wealthy, homeowner dominated neighborhoods fighting to keep renters away.

I saw plenty of “everyday Seattleites” at the events OPCD held about the comp plan all last year. Why are their points of view not as valuable to tbe council? Maybe CMs need to spend more time with everyday Seattleites instead of just folks who have convenient monthly meetings for Electeds
"What we are experiencing is that OPCD did not do outreach that met the everyday Seattleite," Strauss just said, talking about how the entire city "woke up" after the zoning maps were released in October.

As a reminder, this is not a question of efficiency or saving money, as CFPB has already drawn its funds. It is simply because Trump does not like the work of Consumer Protection because he is a grifter, con artist and swindler, and hates accountability.
New — CFPB employees received an ominous email from Russell Vought a few minutes ago.

“Employees should stand down from performing any work task.”
