Watching a very low budget film and my first note is "the sound design is incredible" I can't vouch for the rest of it, cause I'm only a few minutes in, and paused, but I needed to say to any filmmakers reading this: if your sound is impeccable, the visuals will get a LOT of leeway.

Meanwhile, it (THE SECRET AGENT) is entering its third week here in ol’ Wichita, KS. Will we outlast Toronto? (Who knows, just go see the dang movie if you can, it’s great, you’re all welcome to come to Wichita if you need to)
So one of the best reviewed movies of the year and an Oscar contender plays in Toronto for 3 weeks and closes before the nominations are announced. What the hell is going on here

I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

My parents loved DANCES WITH WOLVES so much that when it came out on video (Sept 1991 after a Nov 1990 theatrical release) they were willing to spend the $100 the video store said it would cost since our family had no concept of a "rental window" and they'd already waited so long to own it.
PULP FICTION was released on video in September 1995. It hit theaters in
October 1994.
kids these days don't know how long it could take for even a hit film to go from theaters to a VHS/DVD release. they kept it dangling! the home-video round would always got its own spate of advance TV ads!

Day THIRTY-NINE of our national ULP strike - and baristas are fired up, united, and taking action.

Our demands are clear: Starbucks needs to stop union busting and finalize a contract with the pay, hours, and protections we need to succeed. #NoContractNoCoffee

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Yeah, it was truly magnificent
it's a (very funny) five minute scene that serves as a centerpiece and thesis statement for the entire motion picture lol
The Mastermind devotes what feels like a full 15 minutes of screen time to a guy carrying stuff up a ladder. Truly mind numbing.

In 1974, Tom Shine got a Christmas gift from his dad: a football jersey.
It once belonged to Mickey McCarty, a standout multisport athlete from TCU, and it carries a story that unfolded long after his playing days.
