Around 2009/10, opponents said London was too hilly, too wet and too old to invest in better streets for cycling. No one would cycle and apparently there wasn’t a “cycling culture”.

Those are the argument we now hear in #Edinburgh.

But London build it. Did they come? Oh yes….

Among political issues, urbanism has a strong advantage of being so physical, social and visible.
#Montreal was rated #1 bicycle city in North America this year.

But the party that won the municipal election campaigned on auditing and removing bike lanes.

They’ve already started in my borough, #Outremont.

So we made our own bike lane this morning. We need to keep our kids active—and safe.

People are deranged. So many posts recently where cranks cry how bus lanes congest the city and...well here are a few quotes...

"Clog up fire trucks"
"Make your ambulance 10 minutes late"
"Keep NYPD from responding like the libtards love"

Sorry. Bus lanes are GREAT for emergency vehicles.

Better public transport, better places for pedestrians and better cycle ways/ cycle friendly junctions all go together.

So, a new metro network in Paris could also see more people cycling.
A better bus service in #Oxford could see more people cycling.

Let's get joined up!

Protected cycle lanes, floating bus stops, and low-traffic areas all help people like Susie to get around

We should call them “mobility lanes” and build them everywhere, at pace

Proud to see London is fast becoming a cycling city ⤵️

📈 Daily journeys are 12% up from last year to 1,500,000 trips
📈 Up by more than 40% since 2019

This is just the start, we’ll continue working with partners to improve safety and invest in more routes.

How fast will the oceans rise?
The only thing we know for sure is, that the predictions are extremely uncertain. It all depends on a small number of very large events.
In summary, the outlook is grim. It is highly likely that Thwaites Glacier will eventually be lost, which will destabilise adjoining parts of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, increasing the committed long-term rise in global mean sea level by more than 3 m.
