Really agree with this recommendation. Lovely to read such a balanced analysis.
With apologies to @iandunt.bsky.social, the title doesn't quite do his nicely-balanced piece justice, even if it does represent the level of sweariness pretty accurately! FWIW, I thought this was one of the best 'One Year On' pieces I read over the last couple of days (and I've read a lot of them).

Good programme. Takes me back. The dedication, the hours, the tension awaiting verdict, the prep. It’s an amazing job. But I don’t miss the exhaustion.
Channel 4's documentary Barristers: Fighting for Justice can only take you as far as the courtroom door. But is it still worth a watch? My pick of the day for Radio Times #Barristers

Nigel Farage has just revealed another past life, apparently in the metal industry, on BBC1. Is it possible he has just always been alive.

Wish potential rehires could say not until I have confirmation in writing that my skills and competence are up to scratch and dismissal letter was factually incorrect, a significant pay rise and a 4 year minimum contract which is then extendable.

Been hearing FDA employees dismissed for not having the right skills or competence are hastily being rehired once affected industries have complained.

So sorry America.

Excellent well-written novel. Scarily prescient in these troubled times.

The unanimous conclusion of @chrussiaeurasia.bsky.social authors is that the only outcome in Ukraine that can safeguard the security of Europe is a convincing Ukrainian victory.

Western military support to Kyiv should be redoubled before it is too late.

@bbcnewsnight.bsky.social speaker from North Carolina suggests the postponed tariffs are some strong arm posturing tactic. So sad, as the postponement reveals the weakness behind the posturing whilst the damage has been gone.

Very interesting post.
✍️Despite being the world's biggest oil producer, America is v reliant on Canadian oil. And getting MORE reliant, not less.
So what happens when tariffs get imposed on Canada?
The answers are quite unsettling, for the American people... and for everyone else edconway.substack.com/p/america-st...
America still needs Canadian oil. Here's why

Tories wanting to silence critics and not understanding the value to society of informed debate. If policies stand up to scrutiny, that’s surely a good thing? If not, perhaps a rethink would have value…
Exclusive: The information watchdog has been asked to investigate “authoritarian” government vetting that caused speakers to be banned from official events for criticising ministers
