I was made aware of those episodes today (for some reason), and found them quite informative and insightful.

For those who have no idea what we're talking about, we're talking about these:

If you think acoustic-guitar string-scraping makes the music sound "real" and "authentic", you're part of the problem.

... disincentivizing manufacturers from producing vaccines. Leaving a gap in vaccine production and access that will leave people vulnerable. Creating an environment where preventable disease will run amok. Where people will die.

Stop RFK Jr = Save Lives

In dropping government recommendations that children routinely receive shots for four diseases, RFK Jr.'s allies believe they are closer to a top priority: allowing people who claim vaccine injuries can more easily sue vaccine makers in civil court.
The big plan behind Kennedy’s overhaul of childhood vaccines
Here’s how the downgrading of shots could make it easier for people who claim vaccine injuries to sue for millions, driving manufacturers from the market.

Comparisons to The Station fire are accurate: fireworks sparked it, but the acoustic foam ceiling panels should not have been in the building.
The Swiss ski resort bar fire, which has killed at least 40 people, appears to have been a "flashover" (when hot smoke rises to the ceiling and everything in the room ignites almost simultaneously) started when NYE sparklers lit the acoustic foam paneling on the ceiling. Reminds me of W Warwick, RI.

In college, I had to read the Department of Defense’s Law of War manual.

I kid you not when I tell you that firing at the shipwrecked is quite literally provided as an example of an illegal order.

In case you were wondering where your favorite nihilistic web-comic archives had gone.
S*P had to move hosts. The previous host used a wordpress template that's no longer available, so I couldn't just drop everything in. So I have to go through and add every comic on its own.

And that's a lot of comics.

And, as is, I'm trying not to lay face down in traffic.
@choochoobear.bsky.social Sorry if you've been asked this a million times, but I looked around for information and couldn't find it.

What happened to the Something Positive archives?

Meanwhile, it looks like the Zuck has decided to pull out of this particular race. What's odd is that he just plumped down $27 billion to create another datacenter in low-regulation Louisiana. Perhaps he plans to use someone else's AI tool on FB's data?

I gave up watching American football in 2016. I used to love the strategy, tactics, and athleticism. But the evidence that it destroys brains became too conclusive.

Sadly, one set of destroyed brains becomes murderous.

I am not one of those people who enjoy "immersive" theatre. If you like/love it, bully for you. To me, it's an evening of frustration and being _way_ too close to people.

So I did not need to learn that there is now an immersive version of "The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Dare I try it?
