If you receive an illegal order, you have a duty to disobey.

This isn’t controversial.

A President calling for the execution of anyone who reminds service members of this oath is showing us why the duty to disobey illegal orders is so important in the first place.

This is a powerful essay that is well worth your time.
In the poverty of Trump’s American faith comes the impoverishment of our founding ideas — and the fractures ripping America apart

The destruction of the White House was visceral, sacrilegious

It profanes our secular American religion

They use govt accounts, employees & resources to make partisan political messages.

They make partisan political speeches attacking the opposition party to troops routinely.

They get pardoned when they commit crimes.

They ignore the laws.

There is zero congressional oversight.

This is complete and utter bullshit. WTF, America? Land of the free? Home of the brave?
The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

This is not a joke. This is not normal.

Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.

You can’t change the world, but you can make a difference on a tiny piece of it. Seeing all of the insects, birds and wildlife that come visit is peaceful and rewarding. #NativePlants #habitat
Honestly one of the best reasons I can give you to plant native plants right now is that everything fucking sucks & a lot of it feels (or is) totally out of our control (depending on who you are). One thing most people can do is plant a plant and then look at bees happily sipping on it.

Four years after starting this journey, my yard was certified as a native plant habitat by the Georgia Native Plant Society! With everything in this country so messed up and beyond my control, it is nice to be able to make a difference right here at home and see tangible results. #NativePlants #bees

Harvard correctly understands that it’s in a fight for its life and there is no appeasement that will save it. I wish a lot more institutions understood this.

Radiation worker here. Monkeying around with the NRC for political purposes is a very bad idea. Letting DOGE anywhere near it is a worse idea. These people understand nothing.
The White House just dropped an executive order significantly shaking up operations at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the government’s nuclear safety regulator widely regarded as the “gold standard” for global nuclear power safety operations.

I used to cover NRC closely. Here are some notes🧵

Today I saw a lot of aphids on my Asclepius incarnata and immediately went to get a ladybug I had noticed earlier in a different part of the garden. It was really cool watching her feast after I moved her to the infested plant. That’s natural pest control, y’all. #nativeplants

Took some time on this rainy Saturday to enjoy my native plants. These are foam flower, green and gold, fox sedge, and columbine. 💕

Outside from dusk until well after dark, and saw a lot of fireflies high up in the canopy. Never noticed them so early in the year, but maybe because I never looked up. In June they are at ground level. Moral of the story? Look up! Even if you don’t expect to see anything. Look up.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

It was all over the news when NIH tried to reduce indirect costs to 15%, but it was quickly blocked by the courts. DOE doing the same is just as devastating to universities. Not sure why this isn’t getting the same news coverage.
