Hey, blue place folks! I’m Anne, and I’ve been on the internet a very long time. Don’t expect topical consistency in my posts, but a few things I’m interested in are:
- Cats (I have 3 feral colony rescues that I adore)
- Science/engineering (esp. biotech & electronics
- Electronics repair (1/3)

Well, in spite of all the nonsense, it was great waking up to the news that our civilization isn’t backsliding in *every* conceivable way!

“Don’t vote” is the wrong message to take from tonight’s senate debacle. Anyone who suggests this is grifting or ignorantly dooming. Keep voting, and vote for better candidates!
November 10, 2025 at 5:34 AM
Good, hopefully the non-cavers can stop this nonsense within the next half hour. A “promise” to hold an ACA subsidies vote next month is worse than worthless.
Dem Senator Ruben Gallego is a no on the CR:

“I have been clear on this from the beginning: I will not turn my back on the 24 million Americans who will see their premiums more than double if we don’t extend these tax credits.”
November 10, 2025 at 12:26 AM
A 1 year extension might be the best we can get right now but Dems absolutely should not pass ANYTHING based merely on Republicans claiming they will negotiate later after a reopen. They will not. And dems will look like fools.
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

There is a difference between being good at debates and being right, and I hope humans figure that out ASAP.

We still have free and fair elections despite all the tomfoolery Trump & his goons have enacted over the past year. And electing competent leaders will help keep it that way.

The WAY this is 100% me
“The cats kept multiplying and escaping their carriers. One peed on the controls of the spaceship, causing us to crash land on a planet entirely inhabited by giant pirate mice, which made me miss my algebra test.”

I love when lots of Democrats win by margins too big to be contested!
November 5, 2025 at 2:43 AM
Well! This Election Day is going a heck of a lot better than last year’s, that’s for sure.

Now if only folks can maintain this level of turnout & enthusiasm for the midterms next year…
November 5, 2025 at 12:57 AM
VOTE today if you haven’t already!

I voted by mail in California:
- YES on 50
- YES on measure A

It’s been a year (ish) now since the last dreadful election and I am hoping by this point a critical mass of folks realize we need to change course ASAP.

#HollowKnight #Silksong Halloween was a hit! Lots of kids recognized it (and one dad who was like “hey that’s from that game I’m always playing”!)
November 1, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Yes! I have so much Thriller nostalgia - I remember my whole kindergarten class in like 1983 being obsessed with it, it was the first compellingly scary (but not TOO scary) piece of media a lot of 80s kids got to engage with.
Something I love about Thriller is that Michael Jackson really threw everything in there, werecats, zombies, beasts, a thing with forty eyes, night creatures, aliens, demons, hounds of hell, ghouls, the funk of forty thousand years, it truly has it all

Getting hit hard with the memories of this time last year, hoping the election would go differently than it did…
October 30, 2025 at 12:21 AM
I kind of figured it was something like that, but never actually knew! And for the record I absolutely had a cool fake uncle growing up (one of my dad’s BFFs), plus a second cousin I just called “cousin”. Scandalous?
"Kith" is the word to describe people who you are close to (friends, neighbors) who are not necessarily related to you genetically. Thus the phrase, "kith and kin." And yeah, a lot of them you might call "aunt(ie)" or "uncle" or "cousin."
That's exactly what I grew up with. Kin and people not our kin but that were close to our family were always called "auntie" or "uncle" [name].

Genuinely curious as to at which point some other countries will step in and try to get the USA to cut the crap? Is that even a thing? I mean we have to be violating multiple international laws at this point, right?

I love how Chewy is managing to call out one of my cats specifically, like, how do they KNOW she is constantly trying to eat hair ties?

I really want to know what voter would be like “well I wasn’t going to vote for Cuomo, but now I will since Eric Adams has endorsed him!” 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve (sadly) never even visited the WH, and seeing this destruction is making me emotional as well. I can’t even imagine what a gut punch it must be for someone who has actually worked there.
Not to be cringe, but I'm surprised I am emotional seeing the East Wing demolition. My first job in DC was interning and going to meetings there regularly. I learned everything about it while giving guided tours. The beauty of the East Wing is that everyone can go there. It's America's house.
