The pardon power can be used as a means to condone widespread corruption and illegality.
The potential harms of the pardon power greatly exceed potential benefits.

Note how all the fossil fuel requirements in Inflation Reduction Act were written into statute, like it literally says six lease sales in the Cook Inlet over 10 years.. and most of the renewable energy and climate implementation in the IRA relied on rule-making and agency discretion.
These lease sales are required under the Big Beautiful Bill. The last Cook Inlet sale in 2022 was mandated by the Inflation Reduction Act; that one was overturned under the national environmental policy act. Now we’ll see what happens with a weaker NEPA. www.marinelog.com/offshore/boe...

The Senate has found a thing they don't like QI for: anyone investigating them for doing crimes (it explicitly waives any claim of QI lol)
Also this passed through regular order via approps, not any CR stuff, so Murray along with Heinrich and Ossoff should be the ones getting blasted for this

I am kind of sitting here mouth agape as I realize that the thing that really got eight Democrats to cave was a provision which provides backdoor criminal and civil immunity to them personally by making it functionally impossible to ever investigate the Senate
read the actual bill text and this is quite literally a provision designed solely to impede civil and criminal investigations into United States Senators and their staff. www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

Design your message-containing bottles and interplanetary solar-sail drones accordingly.
By-the-wind sailor are a spiraling mystery. They have a fleshy rigid sail that points to the left or right. Lefties go left and righties go right relative to the wind. This led a Soviet scientist, A.I. Savilov, to predict that sail direction had something to do with their global distribution...
