Portland is a “war-ravaged” city that is “on fire,” President Trump warns. But I braved the artillery fire and militia checkpoints to bring you this video report from the front lines.

I think Ed makes a pretty strong point here about Lindsey Halligan: She hasn't been lawfully appointed under 28 U.S.C. § 546, and as he also points out, his view is supported by a 1986 OLC opinion written by some guy named … {checks notes} … Samuel A. Alito. (1/3)

It's easy to see this speech as just weirdly performative, but there's a lot more—and a lot worse—going on here.

The meeting & speeches are part of a larger project aimed at promoting the military leadership’s partisan alignment with the administration.

How? 1/

Let professionals work. We don't have to speculate past the (known) facts all the time. Follow Ashton and @mississippifreepress.org.
In the DSU case, I have seen people accuse DSU Campus Police Chief Mike Peeler and/or the coroner's office (led by Randolph Seals) of covering up a hate crime.

I'd point out that both Peeler and Seals are Black. That doesn't mean they're infallible, but these aren't Jim Crow authorities either.

Trump doesn't seem to see that some people are still immune to his threats.

Jack White criticized Trump's Oval Office decor. The White House then called White a "washed-up, has-been loser... masquerading as a real artist." And White, undeterred, posted an absolutely blistering takedown in response.

I had a great dog for a bunch of years, a pibul named Daisy. Mr Trump's motions remind me of the way she greeted me each day. With her walnut-sized brain, Daisy was never so obsequious as to clap. And I'm not even an indicted war criminal.

So hell yeah, kill me now -- I saw it all, but never this.
