Fallibilism is the idea that any idea can be wrong

It relies on the assumption that nothing can be absolutely proven. Every idea needs to have some assumptions

I like it because it doesn't say any ideas are wrong, but it suggests we should avoid being dogmatic about our ideas

2016 really is back
I'm speechless. I can't find the words to describe how awful this is. A humiliation for the United States.

I’m not sure that’s even the worst thing Nobel did, but yea the irony is palpable
The Nobel Peace Prize becoming so prestigious that wars are fought over a head of state coveting it is some real monkey paw stuff for Alfred Nobel.

So, fewer than 1-in-4 Republicans support Trump's fantasy of annexing Canada:

"Republicans were more likely to want Canada absorbed into the States, with 13% wanting it to become a territory and 10% an American state. But despite Trump’s messaging, 64% of Republicans support Canada’s independence"

Fairly sure it’s unintentional, but the end date on this mug being sold by the Smithsonian does make it sound a little like they’re saying America dies in 2026…

When I lecture to students about how the apparently thriving economy of the 1920s was really a house of cards just waiting to be knocked down, one of the points I stress is how much a small number of the very rich were essentially propping up consumer spending in unsustainable ways
The top 10% now account for nearly half of all consumer spending.

I was going to say, poor Elmo always gets the worst replies, but then I realized Elmo is still on Twitter

Telling people to be kind is basically ragebait over there
John Birch Society having a totally normal moment.

The main reason we don’t have Chinese EVs is because the US didn’t want us to

So far most of the reasons I’ve heard against Chinese EVs sound either xenophobic or supportive of the US in the current trade war

'“As regards the Nobel Peace Prize, I have on several occasions clearly explained to Trump what is well known, namely that it is an independent Nobel Committee, and not the Norwegian government, that awards the prize,” [Norwegian Prime Minister] Mr. Store said.'
Breaking News: President Trump told Norway’s prime minister that one reason he’s pushing to acquire Greenland is because he didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize.
