There is no point in even making a good faith response to the Trump Admin’s attack on offshore wind. He’s sacrificing our economy and raising all of our electric bills because he thinks they are ugly. Always for himself and never for the rest of us. 🔌💡 www.sierraclub.org/press-releas...

i do find it funny that yglesias brings up sheinbaum as some kind of gotcha here. like ok Matt do you want to talk about nationalizing the us fossil fuel industry under a socialist presidency?? many climate people would LOVE to chat about that
“The mind-set shift needed here is to acknowledge that while climate change is real and harmful, the utility of fossil fuels is not something the oil and gas industry tricked the public into,” Matthew Yglesias writes.

Hey - here's a very detailed report we wrote with ACEEE and Sierra Club on industrial rates in California and how they could be reworked to make industrial electrification pencil out.

This is the most exciting possible description I could come up with, but I promise this is really important.
Unlocking industrial electrification in California
A new study finds that California can achieve cleaner air, lower utility bills, and fewer climate emissions by modernizing the design of electricity rates.

This is so interesting. Juncos' beaks changed as they moved from forest to urban landscapes over a 20-year period. When the pandemic hit, their diet changed, and newly born junco beaks reverted. As restrictions lifted, the next generation's beaks reverted again.

"Let’s stop pretending tariffs will rebuild our economy. The people who power Missouri — on the factory floor and in the fields — know what we really need: investment in affordable, modern energy that lets us work hard, earn fair, and stay rooted right here at home."

Cato Hernandez at @LAist.com highlights a new map showing where SoCal’s largest industrial boilers are located — and why advocates want @southcoastqmd to adopt zero-emission rules before we lock in decades more pollution. Read it here: laist.com/news/climate...
Battle over industrial boilers gets a new tool that you can use to combat pollution
A new climate coalition is calling on air quality regulators to phase out 1,800 of these boilers at places like schools and hospitals.

Today was a good day. IPP has officially retired, and Los Angeles is officially coal-free! In 2009, LA's energy mix mirrored the entire country's. Half its power came from coal. Today, it's coal-free and approaching 2/3s carbon-free power. If only every city and utility had LA's ambition and vision.
