Didn't realize til after college but Saberhagen's one of the best pitchers to emerge from SoCal. 2 Cy Youngs and a World Series MVP before turning 26.

Fascinating career arc
[November 11th, 1985] Bret Saberhagen, 21, became the youngest American League pitcher to win the Cy Young Award, posting a 20-6 record with a 2.87 ERA.

A second plane banner has flown over MetLife Stadium. The first wished Giants president/CEO John Mara well as he’s battling cancer.

The second?

Old school flow for the Giants today. Week 9 vs the 49ers taking it back to the 80s

The Giants' defense has been awful but the run defense - something that had to improve from last year - is on pace to be among the worst in team history.

Too many explosive runs. Too many runs given up at a bad times. It's a regression that's getting worse each game

Giants' defense getting run off the field by opponents
The Eagles' 276 rushing yards on Sunday were the most by a Giants opponent since November 2014.

What is sleep when the World Series says no.

What a wild, wonky, stressful game this is

There is only one HIM right now. I don't care what sport you love. What great talent you love.

OHTANI IS HIM!!!!! Tonight shows why.

Thankfully I didn’t see it live. all I saw was Jaxson Dart look away with his helmet off, every Giants player on the field kneeling and the cart come out faster than it did for Malik Nabers.

It was brutal for Cam Skattebo. Giants already lost Nabers for the year. Another gruesome injury.
Yeah avoid the Skateboo injury video. 🤮 hate this for him, he’s been fun to watch @evanbarnes.bsky.social now has a big piece of his game story 😭

As a English poet once said. "Gravity always wins"

The end comes for everyone. It'd be sad if I didn't see other great players meet Father Time the same way. It's just a reminder the body breaks. I'm the same age as LeBron so I feel it.

I'm glad "Jonz in my Bonz" and "Spanish Joint" are on here. Two really amazing album cuts that show the wealth and breadth of D'Angelo's music. His singles are special but to hear the extra gumbo he cooked with his band are something else.
D’Angelo — the soul singer, songwriter and producer who died on Tuesday at 51 — released three studio albums of genre-crossing music. Here are 14 essential songs that show his extraordinary musical scope.
D’Angelo: 14 Essential Songs
The soul singer, songwriter and producer, who died on Tuesday at 51, released three studio albums of meticulously constructed, vocally ambitious, genre-crossing music.

Still processing this news. But watching D'Angelo in Sly Lives, it was very revealing about himself as much as it was Sly. That was Questlove's goal and I'm grateful we have him explaining himself so clearly.

What a gift....what a gift. What an incredible loss.
I settled on a clip from the (incredible) doc Sly Lives! (watch it now on Hulu if you haven't.) I think it's the most transparent commentary I ever heard from D'Angelo; it's about Sly, but it's really about him.

My plan was to grab a whole different clip, but this one felt right.

I still have no freaking idea what the heck happened in Milwaukee. That's one of the strangest plays I've ever seen.

Man, I still wish this song didn't come out in 2020. It was naaaasty and made for the dance floor. Whew....what a song. What a moment.

Penn State followed the old rule of "what will be done eventually must be done immediately"

Only thing surprising about James Franklin is the timing. Figured his days were numbered but wow....UCLA and Northwestern sent them reeling to this end.

Probably got delayed 20 mins but hey, that’s life. I was more fascinated than annoyed but still, it’s wild to be stuck like 2-3 mins away from Penn Station for way longer than the commute usually is.
First for everything. Stuck on a Jersey transit train because of engine failure. Another medal achieved in the NY/NJ bingo, I suppose.

It’s hard being a UCLA fan but that game……yeah. Wow. Didn’t see that coming.

Didn’t see Penn State looking like that after Oregon bossed them.
