Canadians see what Trump is doing to US regulatory system, in particular the CDC, and understand they can no longer be trusted. Carney continues to act like everything is normal & the US is still a trustworthy partner when it is clearly not.
Simply signing new trade agreements or reinforcing the auto industry are not and will never be enough to secure Canadian independence. You need to disrupt business-as-usual ties between the two countries, the areas where Canada functionally depends on the US, eg regulation. Carney’s not doing that.
