I’m sorry I just found out that in 1379, as in, 650 years ago, a baby girl was born in Yorkshire and named Diot Coke

history is a fucking joke lmao

Berkeley Breathed's "Bloom County" loomed so large over my young life that I simply cannot believe its initial run was only eight and a half years.

It filled the role that the Gaines/Kurtzman/Feldstein "Mad" magazine played for an earlier generation.

A foundational post-post-punk text, imho.

Stumbled upon this on A&E in my teens, rewatched it multiple times. Great soundtrack, including a version "Ooh Child" that plays as the credits role. Always felt like there were some parallels between Over the Edge and Victoria Williams song "Summer of Drugs" - post 60's hangover vibe.
RIP Jonathan Kaplan, who directed _Over the Edge_ (1979), which was perhaps Kurt Cobain's favorite movie. If you're a big Nirvana fan, you ought to see it — it explains a lot. And there's a riff about that movie in my book _The Amplified Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana_.

1. The version of "That Summer Feeling" on I, Jonathan is superior to the one on Jonathan Sings! and really should be top ten if not #1.

2. "The Summer" by Yo La Tengo would also be high on my list.

3. The first single off our next album is a "summer" song or maybe "anti-summer", hard to say.
Wrote a big thing on the best songs about summer. Not songs OF the summer, but songs ABOUT summer. Subject matter includes: the heat, grilling, surfing, driving around, making out, partying, sweating, seasonal depression disorder, & other tangential topics.
