I can say this unequivocally, prices are not coming down in any meaningful way. There is simply no mechanism. The market is broken, and everyone involved knows it.

Re-groceries. I helped lead this investigation, and I spent the first part of my career in grocery pricing. FTC is investigating but I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t think the question is, is government intervention needed, but how and at what scale?

EXCLUSIVE: We found that Instacart is using AI algorithms to charge customers different prices for the same items.

It's not just online. It's in physical grocery stores too.

Our months-long investigation with @consumerreports.org and @groundwork.bsky.social found it could cost families $1200/year.

ICE pepper-sprayed this 1-year-old girl.

Once at the hospital, the doctor had to call in a poison control specialist.

They had never seen anyone that young pepper sprayed.

Another horrific story.

More details below.

It’s not surge pricing. Instacart specifically denied that and there’s no indication that these prices are being set by supply/demand.

Anybody who doesn't immediately understand the ethical problems with using AI to depict people doing things that they never did is unfit for society & needs some kind of retraining, forget about government.

It's so obvious that due to AI someone will be killed for something they never said or did.
Andrew Cuomo’s campaign just posted — and quickly deleted — this AI-generated ad depicting “criminals for Zohran Mamdani.”

Features a Black man in a keffiyeh shoplifting, an abuser, a trespasser, a trafficker, a drug dealer, and a drunk driver all declaring support for Mamdani.

My 14-year-old self would never have guessed that, in 50 years' time, all the world's music would be available at the click of a button, you'd navigate the globe by carrying a tiny computer around in your pocket, and the US President would post a video of himself shitting over American citizens.

I enjoy reading Paris’s tech thoughts but this makes me doubt his judgement. Brussels airport is fine. Better than 90% of the old US of A’s.
brussels airport has to be one of the worst i’ve ever flown through, and i’ve been to a lot of airports

I’m genuinely curious to the pod father’s reaction to this. He sits at this weird intersection of content and technology, at a platform that gave rise to a lot of the factors at play here.
