Anyone surprised that this could happen in the US needs to read up on their history. Specifically:
- Trail of Tears
- Japanese Internment Camps
- Tuskegee Experiments
- Project MKUltra

That's just some of what we do to ourselves. Look up what we do to our "enemies" if you don't want to sleep well.
If you don’t think this administration is so incompetent or callous as not to do this, you haven’t been paying attention.

This is illegal: Musk announced in an overnight post on X that he’ll hand out million-dollar checks at a Sunday night event in Wisconsin—but only to those who voted in the state’s Supreme Court election.

Why is Elon so invested in this race? Tesla is facing legal challenges in Wisconsin.

Even Trump has got to be surprised by how much of the media has defaulted to, "Trump posted a long tweet that is the law now," and reality gets filed under "however, critics say..."
It’s really strange how Trump figured out that Executive Orders are basically “longer tweets that drive giant media attention” and the media hasn’t figured it’s being played each time they report on these as if it’s Moses coming down the Mount with stone tablets.
DC is uniquely vulnerable and we really need all of you with State representation to join us in pushing back against what promises to be a ton of cruel and unnecessary actions: www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/...

That is both messed up and disgraceful! You can’t just delete history!

Mahmoud Khalil must be released, the Trump Administration must answer for his detention, and these attacks on First Amendment rights must end.
🚨BREAKING: With @raskin.house.gov & @scanlon.house.gov, I’m leading 100+ House Democrats in demanding answers on Mahmoud Khalil’s arrest.

Trump’s attempt to deport Khalil is authoritarian & an attack on the First Amendment. We won’t sit quietly as his administration tries to dismantle free speech.

This is really, really bad. Columbia made the mistake of thinking that placating the administration would spare them. Other universities made the mistake of thinking it would stop with Columbia. It won’t stop without disciplined pushback; it’s an existential question for American universities.

WaPo readers need to realize that every opinion piece they read is now the product of Bezos' rightwing censorship rules. Whether the author self censors or Post management does it after review, the result is the same.

This is what oligarch controlled media looks like.
In Ruth Marcus' new column for The New Yorker in which she unveils the Washington Post column that was rejected and led to her resignation, she points out that the paper's media critic Erik Wemple also had a piece disagreeing with Bezos' new opinion mandate nixed.

The choice right now is democracy or dictatorship. And we're sliding faster than I ever thought possible into the latter.

When Trump was sworn in, Elon Musk's corporations were under more than 32 investigations conducted by at least 11 federal agencies.

Most of the cases are now closed or likely to be closed soon, and the federal agencies are being defanged by DOGE.

Funny how that works, huh?
