Pervanadate is more than just a phosphatase inhibitor!

Read our paper just published in #sciencesignaling showing that pervanadate oxidises and activates SRC kinase too.

Pervanadate-induced oxidation relieves autoinhibition of the protein tyrosine kinase SRC
A widely used tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor also oxidizes and activates the tyrosine kinase SRC.

Truly shocked and saddened by the loss of this brilliant man, scientist and mentor.
I think I speak for all alumni when I say that I am still in shock. Peer was a great scientist, but more importantly a great person.
very sad news. Peer Bork was one of the leaders of our field, a wonderful scientist, and he's much too young to be gone. www.embl.org/news/embl-an...
