No sense of direction. Love fashion but live in Santa Cruz, so bummer for me; also I’m old. Former dancer. Still a reader, writer, surfer. Lefty left left left but not as much as my kid.

OMG, there’s an actual person in politics who does interesting things competently and with discipline and commitment.

This is the funniest, best piece of writing about Burning Man I have ever seen. No matter how you feel about Burning Man. It's a very very good piece of writing about anything, actually. Read it. Seriously.

Batshit crazy.
BREAKING: Trump doesn't remember/believe/understand HE was president on January 6, 2021

This is how unstable, how mentally unbalanced, how much of a dangerous mixture of dishonesty and insanity Trump is:

"Biden's FBI?" By Jan. 6 2021, TRUMP had run the FBI for 1,448 days #25A

This clap-back is 🔥

“You think my self-worth is determined by your opinion of me when in reality I know for a fact that I was better than you the day I was born.”

"Your grandparents were born on third base, mine were born in the parking lot but still managed to score before you.” Holy shit!

It's a sign of the times that you buy a cheap-ass clear plastic backpack from China so you can attend public performances and events in the US.

This is not going to go well.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

Never before has there been a more perfect reply to a tweet. I may enlarge this, print it out, get it framed, buy one of those art lights to hook onto the frame, and hang it in my living room.
That's how perfect the reply is to this idiot's tweet.

Top *eight* articles on NYT devoted to Charlie Kirk, top one asks if he will be remembered like MLK. This is a man who only a tiny percent of Americans had even heard of before his death, whose views are too nasty for NYT to detail. But they are trying so hard to turn into martyr.

Elizabeth Spiers, in The Nation, gives Charlie Kirk, the eulogy he actually deserves. A devastating piece.

At least a dozen faculty and staff have faced fallout over insensitive comments online.

This is very poor Ukraine-splaining from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the nation’s top diplomat.
Rubio: "The war in Ukraine gets a lot of attention, and it's a very tragic thing, but life in America on a daily basis will be largely unaffected whether there's peace in Ukraine or not. That's just a fact."

Is it a wild understatement to say that the violence and illegality seems to be escalating?
My @propublica.org colleagues @nicolefoy.bsky.social and @mckenziefunk.com examined dozens of videos of ICE officers smashing car windows. Here’s what they saw. projects.propublica.org/trump-ice-sm...

They’re not even trying to fake legitimacy anymore.

administration should just put up a “no niggers” sign and save themselves the trouble of writing out each country
A State Dept. cable says the Trump administration might add up to 36 countries — most in Africa — to a list of 21 countries on which it imposed a full or partial travel ban this month. Citizens can't get visas to the US. Our @nytimes.com story: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/u...
