There’s a very real effort to rewrite NZs early COVID experience. Let’s make sure the enquiry don’t just hear from those who’ve fallen for disinformation!
Hi All!
Submissions are now open for the NZ Royal Commission Covid 19 Inquiry.
Winston Peters is asking all his supporters to make submissions.
They need sane people to make submissions too. So please, make a submission and share this link.

E hoa ma, please make a submission to the COVID Enquiry - they were tough and uncertain times, and Aotearoa fared better than elsewhere in the world, grateful for the quick and decisive leadership of that time. Tena ra koe @siouxsiew.bsky.social

It’s worth taking some time to comment on what NZ did well & what could hv been done better which would also improve public health for all time (eg Clean air standards+investment in public spaces esp in education).

You can be sure the cookers will be out in force reinventing the covid narrative.

Re-upping as it may be of use! My timeline also has a bit more info on OIAs - to summarise, head over to fyi.org.nz and they’ll guide you from there.
Do ask questions - and remember this is my personal view!

Hmm same here as the other place, it's all the fault of the people who worked hard, their collective guts out actually, through extremely tough years of often unpredictable times
If I was them I wouldn't be apologising to anyone for anything just as I won't for voting for them

New Zealand’s new right-leaning coalition government is abandoning a world-leading plan to outlaw smoking for future generations, in a move health experts say is a retrograde step that will cost the country billions of dollars in health care.
Groundbreaking smoking ban abandoned in New Zealand’s swing to the right
The new government halted a plan to outlaw smoking, a move critics call “a huge win for the tobacco industry” and “an act of idiocy” for public health.

I found myself thinking about this Timothy Snyder quote this morning when I read about MFAT removing te reo Māori from some of its templates after the election

Did you know that ‘pulling yourself up by your bootstraps’ was originally a metaphor for something that could not be done? It’s literally not possible.
I think about this a lot.

Jack Tame: Why don't the Greens play the MMP game?
The Green Party’s stance on a coalition deal with National undervalues the potential of MMP, writes Q+A presenter Jack Tame.
