Even a failed experiment should teach you something, but I still can't figure out what I'm supposed to learn from my life. She/her. 🇸🇩 🇵🇸 🏳️‍🌈
Yeah. They get scared of exams. Fear, not ambition, motivates them. Studying more is somehow cheating. Others will claim exams are not a good measure of intelligence (I agree) or fitness for a real-world career. They don't propose an alternative measure .. that is, nothing beside gender.

Yes. Even when girls are verifiably "not dumb" .. we will come up with reasons to explain it away.

For example, I grew up in a society that would attribute girls scoring well in exams to being good at "rule following" .. hence, not creative or fit for real-world careers.

I'm Sudanese, and I think we similarly don't have this belief.

Ironically, we have a "girls are better at studying" belief, maybe because girls do slightly but consistently better at our university entrance exam.

But this belief is still negative. Can you guess how?!

I remember reading somewhere that girls who are good at math, a persumed minority I guess, may have been exposed to more testosterone in utero.

See, it is not a male field .. but a male hormone field.
the people who spread the “female brains are bad at math and spatial reasoning” lies should be tried at the Hague
Another fun wrinkle from that period (that might still exist): I was good at math and loved it and then my geometry teacher told me that I'd probably struggle because female brains were bad at spatial thinking. I kept loving math & being good at it but assumed that would end so I ended it first.

yea sorry, but this paragraph is also shit, because it reduces “the ruling class” to “capitalists”, and omitting what chomsky himself said about the abuse of women. this is not only about capitalism, it is also about patriarchy. chomsky wasn’t just seduced by the ruling class, he is a man.
This is the definitive point by Chris Hedges, re: Noam Chomsky and Epstein. Chomsky's entire value as a public intellectual is to know what people like Epstein are up to and why. Him feigning ignorance is absurd, and if it were true it would undermine the rest of his career.

It would be picking a fight if I ever wanted to argue with you. I made my point. Arguing with you actually goes against it.

I don't like that people being smartasses about what "being in the files" means.

What are you trying to achieve by making a trivially obvious point like this one? THe VicTiMs ArE aLSo IN tHe FiLEs

Just jump into your actual point, that is, defending Epstein (post 2008 conviction)’s associates.
This sounds like a good move, but -
Are any paleontologists IN the files?
Are they there for actually bad acts?
Yes, I'm serious. Jon Stewart is "in the files" because someone name dropped him as an example to JE, not because he ever had contact. If someone was buying fossils and named a paleo...

you legitimately could not get me to care a single bit about "falling birth rates" for a myriad of reasons but especially with the way this society treats women and trans people and children in particular sorry. child abuse is just the norm worldwide. let the birth rates fall tbh

This is only related in a sideways manner, but: the story of any small slice of humanity is the story of humanity, just boiled down and distilled. So:

In 2020, we had a lot of conversations about harassment at SF/F conventions, and Isaac Asimov came up several times.
the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

Today was a disappointing day.

I hope I misunderstood, but if I didn't .. I think a youtuber who I thought was very cool just said that the patriarchy isn't the issue, and we shouldn't name it as our enemy.. bcs sometimes, in some tiny activist circles, people can be mean to the cishets.

It’s really weird for some corners of the media to do a whole “the Epstein files are a moral panic that has gone too far” thing when no one has faced any sort of punishment and doesn’t sound like they’re going to.

It is an argument for historical moral relativism, but history is less than 10 years ago. Innovative.

One thing men do when grooming girls, which society reinforces, is convince her she's the one with the power, the seductress, the jailbait. He's just a helpless adult with a penis. This, along with grooming flattery that she's special, mature for her age, NLOG, manufactures power.

The whole patriarchal hierarchy hinges on the myth of the binary. If we accept that the differences aren't fundamental & basically mutable .. it loses all justification.

They need sport to be male field. Women's sport must be policed (in the name of protecting the delicate woman) out of existence.

I feel guilty.

I don't want to live in my home country, .. for several reasons, but mainly because women have limited rights and freedoms. I don't want to stay and fight for a better future.

Am I a coward who wants the easy way out? Yes.

Men have been saying women hit a wall at 25 for a while now & instead of recognizing men's fetishization of youth as pedophilic adjacent, we pretend Epstein was an exception. Insisting men who rape 15yos wouldn't rape 12yos or 20yos has protected predators.

This is just the leftist version of the myth that all rapists are strangers in dark alleys, rather than relatives, fathers, boyfriends and so on.
All rich people (not just billionaires) shouldn't exist because capitalists shouldn't exist, whereas abolishing CSA implies destroying the POWER OF MEN!
The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll
