You can tell where my fatigue-meter is bc one end is marked "actively engaged in fascinating artistic thought-experiments" and the other end is marked "drinking endless tropes because they require no thought only emotional tides washing over my exhausted psyche"
Highly recommended by a woman of excellent taste! A great gift for anyone in your life who loves Sailor Moon, She-Ra, or any other magical girl anime out there
These books are the only media I've seen, outside of anime itself, to actually capture the feeling of a magical girl anime. They're also full of trans feelings and good vibes. You NEED to read this series. Yes, even you. Especially you.
Anyway I'm here to spread the good word of extremely queer Portland magical girls so why not check out my novel series

if you ever loved Sailor Moon but wished it had way more trans people and lesbian feelings and indie rock music then you will probably love these books 🥹 magicariot.com/buy

So...health insurance is more than doubling, and I'm also taking a step down so the deductible is more than doubling.

Fuck, y'all.

i understand that "tech ceos don't value child development" is like the least surprising statement but the truly astonishing part of this clip for me comes earlier when altman says that chatgpt is a genius so he feels really bad when he asks it questions about stupid things, like parenting
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

Starting to wonder if maybe the bad sore throat and fever I had for a couple of days last week were covid (despite testing negative) and just very mild because I'd been vaccinated.

I don't seem to have the energy I should, somehow, and I keep falling asleep in odd places and at odd times.

Attention folk flying out of PDX for MFF (or whatever).

There's a new policy where if your luggage doesn't scan, they have to individually hand check *everything*
Yes. That means EVERYTHING.

The agent who helped me was very kind, and fast, but it still took me almost 90 minutes to get to my gate.

Half the disabled people I know are convinced they're not disabled enough for accommodations and should just tough it out. Even if we really were only shaming people 100% definitively faking it (and who would determine that? how?), the impact on the disability community would still be unimaginable.
I do think the only workable solution is occasionally making a high profile, dramatic example of people who get caught flagrantly abusing the system which helps generate social opprobrium for rule breakers.

Our friends are the best friends bc they provide us with ways to support their dreams and then give us books and pastries and flowers
You know the best part of supporting small business Saturday? I am buying things from my friends.

Buying local keeps your money local. It keeps your friends in business.

And then .... you have more cool places to hang out.

Hiding from my headache with an Agatha Christie audiobook and someone has neatly excised one of those little moments where you remember Christie lived a life of problematically unexamined privilege and it was such a nice moment to be like, "that sentence is -- oh it changed in a GOOD way!"

Absolutely WILD for a real, in-depth, lush film adaptation of The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. Something with Wicked's budget.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

This article is fucked up in a ton of ways, several of which are ably dismantled in this thread. But it also creates this utopian idea that there was ever a time that childhood wasn't determined by adult wants and needs, entirely separate from child labor (an extremely valid point in and of itself!)
I don't think I've ever disagreed and agreed more strongly with a piece, seesawing from one paragraph to the next.

Will come back to dissect.
