Fascinating look at “Dutch protocol” established in 90’s in Netherlands on treatment of transgender adolescents, how was implemented here US, and how progressed to where we are now politically & medically (both totally fucked up)

Look beyond Trump and Musk's public blowout to the bigger problem: the infiltration of Big Money in our politics. It has corrupted our democracy — creating a vicious cycle that funnels more wealth and power to those at the top while drowning out the needs of regular Americans.

The really critical thing to know about the Trump/Musk throw down is that the “Big Beautiful Bill” would explode the debt, exacerbate economic inequality, and cause cruel and grievous harm to the most vulnerable Americans and we really should be talking about that a whole lot more.

Serious question here:

As doctors, if we prescribe GLP1s for weight loss to people of normal weight and metabolic health, are we aiding and abetting disordered eating behavior and, if so, is this practice ethical?

Now I’ve seen most egregious example in 22y of menopause practice:

I get emails selling hormone pellets for perimenopause, this time from Qualgen

My question is: it costs provider $8-12 per pellet, why do they turn around & charge patient $300-$600 everv 3 months?

I never get emails for FDA-approved hormones & I make no money

The Signal debacle is what happens when you hire people for high level positions who look the part, but don’t have the experience, who talk the talk, but can’t walk the walk. We have & will continue to see this play out in our healthcare system to the detriment of people’s lives

The New York Times is the first to put out comprehensive estimates on the cost of a year without U.S.A.I.D. and they’re higher than I thought:
- 1.65 million deaths from AIDS
- 500,000 from lack of vaccines
- 550,000 from lack of food aid
- 290,000 from malaria
- 310,000 from TB
Killing children is by design, I'm afraid. "Pro-natalists" like Musk claim they aren't racist, but their pressure to have children is solely focused on white women, while they back policies that literally kill of non-white children.

He's a eugenicist.

PAXLOVID alert.
Went to a pharmacy to pick up a Paxlovid Rx for (for real) a friend. Out-of-pocket cost for one course of treatment was almost $800, discounted from Pfizer's charge of $1500.
Medicare subsidy for Paxlovid expired 2 weeks ago, & no one has given thought to how to make it accessible.
