The exemptions to me demonstrate how reasonable and also not anti-development this proposal is. The goal isn’t to to kneecap new construction (which is frequently higher rent as well) from being a sellable asset, it’s to try to get older, more affordable homes into tenant ownership!
Some of the key property type exemptions: homesteaded, or partially homesteaded, with 4 units or less; buildings less than 15 years old; buildings with no units offered at rents affordable to 50% area median income within last 5 years.

It’s mildly embarrassing when the light rail first switches to winter mode and I end up staring at the door for several seconds before realizing I need to use the door open button

The three way stop at 26th and Bryant has mysteriously and suddenly disappeared and reverted to no stop for traffic on 26th. I guess I enjoyed the safe crossing while it lasted

What the fuck is this official MN DFL mailer showing a seemingly random selection of endorsed candidates? Only one of 3 at large parks endorsees, and Bob Fine but not Steve Brandt? Is the DFL just trolling us at this point?

Looks good to me; I personally love to vote in two different park board districts
this rocks. when indiana edu killed the student newspaper, Purdue stepped up, printed the forbidden issue, drove it to Bloomington and stocked the boxes.

Imagine a beautiful, peaceful pedestrianized plaza, full of charming local businesses and welcoming in Minneapolitans eager to have more safe places to walk, all of it anchored by the generous portions and attentive service of that Buca di Beppo on 12th Street. A better future is possible

Really excited for our Community Bench-Raising this Saturday from 4-8pm in Seward. Come hang out, help us assemble some benches, and talk about the city we can build when we work together! 🪵🔨🔩
My partner and I like sharing online shopping links with each and I’m currently in the market for a specific brand of equestrian-focused belts and that’s fine, but it does mean that I am sending links for websites with names like horse dot com to my significant other

There are a lot of negligent landlords funding conservative candidates this election, but few have a resume as deep and troubling as “California Trailer Park King” Brian Fitterer.
He’s made a half million dollar donation to Trump - and hundreds to Jacob Frey, Lydia Millard and Elizabeth Shaffer.

I know this guy’s various corporate entities pretty well and let me tell you: they’re no good!
The blue line replacement buses are off to a great stop. Driver stopped on the wrong side of the street picking up for the Warehouse/Hennepin stop, and then just fully skipped the Cedar-Riverside and Franklin Ave stops. Lots of good camaraderie on the bus, at least

I love being in a union, and I love seeing other union members get wins. Huge congrats to the Teamsters at the U and shout out to the Farm Aid folks for doing solidarity as an action as well as a principle

I help run a legal clinic out of a community center and I want my clinic office to be welcoming and to be very open door for people to walk in with their legal issues, but there is an active basketball practice happening like ten feet away from my door and it is quite loud for me getting work done

I have been blessed to only live in places with orderly, clean, convenient airports (IND and MSP). I’ve never found an airport where it’s easier to find a place to charge a phone than IND
Actually, you know what? Let’s stop complaining for a second. QT this with a GOOD airport. Defend that title as much or as little as you like. But let’s hear about airports that don’t suck.

This is not a new point but male cyclists in their 50s and 60s loooove to be cops about bike path/trail usage. I think there’s just a fundamental mindset difference between biking as an individualistic pursuit and biking as a pro-social and aggregative pursuit

Uninterested in actually choosing but I will say that the top of a brown sugar pop tart is one of the great tactile food sensations. It’s so clacky and smooth to the touch

Since Saturday’s convention, many people have reached out to ask if I will be challenging the DFL endorsement. I want to be clear: I will not challenge the endorsement and will not collaborate with those who are challenging the endorsement.
Mayoral candidate soda resort: Jazz Hampton was handed a Diet Coke as he got on stage. Dewayne Davis has no soda. Omar Fateh, waiting his turn to speak, appears to be holding a 7-Up or similar green can

Just filled my water bottle out of a fountain at target center and the water is as hot as tea that’s been out for a few minutes. This is an inauspicious start to my city convention experience

Just learned at the three-week-old B Line is providing a 23% boost over previous Route 21 numbers, about 8K rides per day. That's a great result, and likely to climb even higher.
I think that being near the top of my high school class but only applying to a single not particularly prestigious state school because I didn’t want to have to pay for college has made me extremely normal in the long run
