'Knitting no longer for grandmothers'... the same evergreen bullshit headline as 'the problem with the youth of today'.

I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.
In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

This one came up in Facebook memories today. I do a lot more sewing and a lot less knitting than I did five years ago, but I still think about this a lot.

Happy Tom-Holland-Performing-Umbrella Day to all who celebrate!

[I most certainly do]
eight years ago today we all watched the glory of zendaya falling madly in love with tom holland and the internet was never the same

Those who shared my outrage when Walkers retired their Worcester sauce crisps may be interested to see what my partner found in Sainsbury’s!

Here's an impact of the SC ruling on "biological sex" that demonstrates that it's anti-feminist.

Recoding the gender pay gap as the "biological sex" pay gap will make it seem less of a problem than it is, because trans women are on average paid less than cis women 1/2

Look at this thing of absolute beauty. Red onion, anchovies and capers on a sourdough base. Made by my wonderful partner.

Yesterday I dressed up and went to see Rocky Horror. Today I cycled to a primary school in the rain and stood around watching small children being very cute in their Easter hat parade. I feel like these two extremes need to be recorded.

This statement about the transphobic Supreme Court ruling by the UK's Crab Museum (yes a museum about crabs) is better than 99% of the statements I've seen on the topic

We just went to see the Minecraft movie (*) with six 8/9 year olds, and now my back garden is full of said children, most of whom will be in my house overnight 😱

(*Better than expected. I leave you to interpret that for yourselves.)

Partner returning from Lidl: the Prosecco isn’t cold because they converted the fridge that used to have wine and beer to take protein drinks.

Went to get tea with colleagues who're 20 years younger than me. Cafe was playing 'Especially for you'. I wailed about incipient earworm, but colleagues did not know the song. The woman serving coffee (my age) and I shared a moment of experiencing our age. The damn thing is still playing in my head.

My excellent friend @ickbat.bsky.social is Kickstarting a role playing game inspired by the gorgeous novella This is How You Lose The Time War. Cannot wait to play this.
And there it is! In the 68th minute we crossed the threshold -- this time war is on!

Thank you everyone. I really love this game, and I think you're going to love it too. Please continue to share the word, and I'll get an update up as soon as I can!

Ah, sewing is 90% prep and 10% making. Knitting is 10% prep (incl. brewing tea/coffee) and 90% making.

'Twas ever so.

Picked up some delights in the Oxfam superstore today: unopened copy of an Agatha Christie card game, beautiful purple scarf-shawl, and a piece of blue possibly-wool fabric with pretty selvedges. Regret going out because my body ran out of battery half way round, but don’t regret these!

Super exciting post! Gorgeous #Lovecraftesque materials for the second edition of the roleplaying game of cosmic horror (minus the racism etc of actual Lovecraft), by my wonderful friends @beckyannison.bsky.social and @armadajosh.bsky.social.

These are two terrible phone photos of planets - Venus visible next to the moon (which is actually a crescent, not a blob), and Mars as the lower right of the triangle (redder to the eye than the camera). Also seen but not photographed, Jupiter. And the Earth, obv.

I am on the Pantone website looking for their colour of the year… What does it say about me that I initially read “earthly refinement” as “early retirement”?
