For the interest of w(a|o)ndering podcaster who wants to cite me and needs to know:

"It's Éibhear;
Rhymes with flavour;
Like something you savour;
And if you ever need a favour;
Just ask Éibhear"

The "-our" spelling is important. Refer to your western-European podcasting colleague if you struggle.

"Diaspora referendum to extend voting rights for presidential elections is being considered"

I would (probably) support this, but I still want the promised right to water and right to housing referenda.

Diaspora referendum to extend voting rights for presidential elections is being considered
A plan for a referendum in place in 2019 was ditched amid the Brexit emergency — and covid pushed it further down the agenda

The doc used "chronic" in the referral letter describing my condition when passing me to the surgeon. Speaking on the 'phone, he corrected himself: it was "acute", not "chronic".

The insurance company didn't get the correction and denied cover due to it being a "pre-existing condition".

The solstice sunset!

From tomorrow, the days will be brighter.

This is the 2nd of 3 celebrations, though: the evenings started to get brighter last week, the days start brightening tomorrow, and the mornings will start on the 31st.

More celebrating to look forward to!

The December solstice is today, 21st December, 2025. Today the sun will be directly above the most southerly latitude of the Earth for a moment, before heading off north again. And that moment is now, 15:02 Dublin time.

If I was asked for an opinion, I would offer no more than this: I suspect Musk would hate to win this and Thiel would be quite happy to do so.
🚨 THE FINAL TWO 🚨

From thirty-two candidates, we’ve now made it to the final round where Elon Musk and Peter Thiel will face off for the crown.

Who will win? You decide!

"Thai queen wins gold medal at Southeast Asian Games"

If she had come in second, or lost outright, would analysis of her performance fall afoul of Thailand's laws against criticising the monarchy?

(not a fully serious question, but if there's a clear answer ...)
