I guess I've been lax at posting over here, but I will try to be better. An intro: I'm Emma, I'm an editor at Harlequin, and in my spare time I'm writing a nonfiction book about romance in horror movies because I love horror. Always happy to answer questions about Harlequin if I can!

This looks amazing.
Oh, what's this? No big deal, just the cover reveal for my next book, QUAINT FOLK -- a story about an obnoxious American family who visits an incredibly quaint British island where people follow the old ways. 😎🖤

Embarrassing to see adults talk to robots in a public forum. That'd be like if your friend asked a mailbox for directions once. You'd roast him for decades for that shit. Every time the concept of navigating space came up you'd hit him with "Why don't you ask the mailbox?"

The thing is you never know for sure when the person you're talking to is going to be in a different position, whether they have a book deal they haven't announced or they blow up on TikTok or whatever. If you want to be part of a community, it's so shortsighted to only want to talk to "big names"
5. Who are you to the people new to the community? Who are you to people who can offer you nothing in that community but encouragement? Who are you to the people attractive to you? Who are you to those NOT attractive to you? Are you happy to talk to a "nobody" or looking to trade up in conversation?

Venerable magazine Harper's Bazaar is running its short story contest again, with the winner receiving "the chance" of publication in the magazine. Just one catch: per the wording of the guidelines, _just by entering_ you transfer copyright ownership of your story to Harper's parent, Hearst. 1/3

Got to see Twin Peaks The Return episodes 7-9 at The Westdale today. Seeing Episode 8 in particular was absolutely incredible, but it's all just so good. I just wish people didn't feel the need to laugh every time a scene goes on for a beat longer than expected.

IT'S ALIVE!!!
So excited to actually be able to hold the ARC for this novel. I'm sure it's uncool of me to be so open about it, but I friggin' love this book. A new brand of vampires, witchcraft, forbidden love, the 1950's, bloody murder on a train...coming to US shelves in July, UK in September!

NightTide is growing. 🖤
I wrote about why we chose depth over news churn, how the magazine has evolved, and why NightTide is becoming a home for long-form horror criticism, identity, and thought leadership.
Proud of this team. Proud of this work.
