I guess I've been lax at posting over here, but I will try to be better. An intro: I'm Emma, I'm an editor at Harlequin, and in my spare time I'm writing a nonfiction book about romance in horror movies because I love horror. Always happy to answer questions about Harlequin if I can!
Regardless of whether you agree with him or not (I generally do), Walter is simply one of the best film critics around. This is fabulous.

Fucking useless organization.
Another Nebula Awards nomination cycle is in full swing, and the addition of poetry and comics, along with the presence of LLMs in industry, required careful consideration.

Read on, and vote well!

We trust our voters & look forward to what they choose to celebrate.

Grateful to my husband for not only getting me a copy of the Possession 4K, but also for giving it to me ahead of Christmas so I don't have to unwrap it in front of my mother-in-law and explain the plot.

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched:
A bleak view of marriage, a bleaker view of the not-so-distant future, an old-time adventure story with great special effects, and a not-too bad serial killer movie with great shark footage but a kind of middling final girl.

A really great thread celebrating indie presses.
2 ongoing convos are dovetailing rn:
1. a holiday shopping $ blackout aimed at big business;
2. worry over small presses closing or paring down.

Let's talk direct action: YOU CAN DO BOTH😀

IT'S VITAL TO SUPPORT indie pubs that encourage risk & diversity. Here's a 🧵 of em you can support directly:

I love this article! The intersection between horror and romance is something I care about very much and this is such a fascinating piece that touches on many of the similarities in these two genres.
(You can read more about my thoughts on horror and romance when my book comes out next year!)
I was honored to be interviewed alongside comrade-in-Christmas Steven R. Monroe for this article by Jim Hemphill for @indiewire.com all about horror filmmakers who also make holiday movies...and the commonality between the two seemingly disparate genres! Read!

My husband is rewatching 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and I will take these slightly wonky practical squid effects over digital every single time (and it goes without saying that even the silliest special effects are a gazillion times better than AI slop).
