@dmercer.bsky.social I'm visiting NE Minneapolis and thought you'd like a glimpse of this turreted house at NE 18th Ave and Lincoln St NE. Stopped me in my tracks.

Ever wake up and start your day and, as you’re sipping your coffee, realize that you’ve got more time left on this planet than you thought you did?

I was *so* sure today was Thursday, and i finally saw “Wed Nov 19” on my screen. It’s like having an extra day of life! Carpe diem, laundry basket!

If elected, one of my first and most important tasks will be to work to prevent restaurants from calling themselves “concepts”

Please stop doing this. Please stop replying to shitposts and jokes and interesting thoughts and observations about film or whatever with pictures of trump or rfk or reminders of how bad things are. It really, really sucks and doesn't help anything. We are just trying to hang out.
We have long been at the "every reply will try to make your post about trump" phase and it stinks.

From my dining room window not far from the Expressway in Chicago. I would have seen a lot less from street level, and with all the lights out, I didn’t have any reflections to deal with.

Really enjoying the skyline tonight as BlueSky becomes RGBSky.

This is the nerdiest joke I’ve ever made.

By the way - everything I’ve ever posted here is off the record. A few of you aren’t journalists so it’s weird saying that but just letting you know.

Not to be THAT dictionary, but…

It’s ‘per se,’ not ‘per say.’
It’s ‘dog-eat-dog world,’ not ‘doggy-dog world.’
It’s ‘hunger pangs,’ not ‘hunger pains.’
It’s ‘one and the same,’ not ‘one in the same.’
It's 'buck naked,' not 'butt naked.'

I wrote a paper at 7 am for my noon Publishing Law class and found a point that no other student ever had (nor had the lawyers who argued the case before SCOTUS) that the professor said would have changed the outcome of the case had it been argued.

Fuck AI.
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

Anyway I propose not calling white people "vanilla" people because:

- Vanilla is black
- Vanilla only seems bland because it is typically underused
- Vanilla blends very well with countless other flavors

Does any of this sound like white people to you

I consider today’s #caturday photo to be a still life, because neither she nor the grasshopper moved for 15 minutes.

(Eventually it just leaped and fluttered away.)
