Distort textures by simply lerping between texture coordinates and a checkerboard texture with randomized R and G values for a tiling effect. To add chromatic aberration, simply shift the G channel’s UVs using a sine wave #gamedev #VFX #UnrealEngine #realtimeVFX

I wanted to experiment more with Depthfade for a while now and here's the first results.

It's only 1 plane. The only texture noise used is a basic Perlin noise. (It's used 2 times: One for the Uv disto and one for the visual.)

Am I reposting people enjoying Eternal Strands? Why yes, I am. I'm glad people are having fun with it, and we're taking note of feedback and so on for patches.

Also, sitting at Very Positive on Steam makes me happy. I think it's a pretty neat game for ~$40.

I'm loving this review (Recommends!) from Skill Up. Great footage, offers a ton of context, and has great critiques.

There's one factual error I noted, but that's not a fault. Some things are...subtle. I'm going to let people discover what on their own terms. :D

If you’re trying out the Eternal Strands “demo,” here’s a few things to note in a tiny thread.

1) It’s the opening of the game, so the tutorials and setting building are pretty heavy, but your progress saves and carries over if you pick up the full game.
