This article is such a gorgeous portrait of the Valkyries' first season, AND, it is the most nyt vibe ever. Like it was written by an anthropologist who never watched a WNBA game before this week. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/14/u...

the "from devops to AI" panel was brilliant. @eanakashima.bsky.social: "people miss how much of devops was about culture... the culture stuff is maybe more important than ever now."

David Williams shared how AI is a black box we need observability to understand. bsky.app/profile/hone... #o11yDaySFO
What a panel with Emily Nakashima, James Bland (AWS), & David Williams (LaunchDarkly)! The role of an SRE is evolving and hard to define. SREs connect many dots in ways LLMs can’t—showing how people and AI must work together to solve complex challenges.

If you're an author and haven't yet signed up for the Anthropic settlement, do yourself a favor (and strike a blow against AI) by checking to see if any of your books were involved.

I saw protestors on the I-80 overpass holding signs that said, "ICE TARGETS COLOR, NOT CRIME." And that's the whole game right there. This is about indiscriminately harassing people who look like immigrants, regardless of status.

Hi authors! Please remember to file a claim!
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

Can someone from the Valkyries front office explain why the Valks shop has jerseys for two (2) players who rarely/never start and one (1) draftee who didn't actually join the team, but not Temi Fágbénlé who starts every game AND has the most important singing part in the pre-game hype cheer #wnba

I don't know who needs to see this, as the saying goes, but platform engineering is not just "devops" or "infra" by another name.

Platform engineering is about bringing a product sensibility and design ethos to the infra-shaped technical problem space.

This is heartbreaking and horrible. AmeriCorps jobs are such a low-cost win-win, providing helpful support for the communities, nonprofits, schools, public agencies, etc. and helping young people pay bills and explore possible career paths.

NEW: i spoke with several young AmeriCorps volunteers around the country who were abruptly pulled off projects building homes, readying forests for wildfire season, and working at food banks Tuesday afternoon. they are now on their way home thanks to DOGE cuts —
DOGE Cuts Pull AmeriCorps Volunteers Off of Disaster Relief Jobs
The youth volunteers who were working on projects ranging from rebuilding homes destroyed in storms to distributing supplies for hurricane recovery were suddenly pulled from service. Why? DOGE cuts.

ALERT! It just broke that tomorrow, the Senate will attempt a procedural vote on a transgender sports ban.

It will take 7 Democrats breaking rank in order to have enough votes to pass cloture.

Democrats held very strong in the House and only lost two votes.

I used to believe in trans rights just because trans rights are human rights. Later, I came to see that the struggle for trans rights is intertwined with all women's rights and all LGBTQ+ rights. As James Baldwin said, "If they take you in the morning, they will be coming for us that night" (1/3)

I feel like Americans love to analogize sports to business because for many of us, sports was the only time we:

1. worked as a team
2. received constructive criticism and
3. shared a larger mission

before being in the labor force. I wish there were more ways for young people to experience these.
