#yegbike Anyone know when the new northbound lanes in Delton on 96th street officially open? They look "done" and people are using them but there are still barricades, traffic cones, and debris in them.

If you're 40+ and you don't ride your bike around town what even is your plan for healthy aging?

I just don't understand older people who hate bike lanes.

One time I came across Dr. Markland on Hustler (the trail). He was riding it backwards and had stopped at a precarious spot and was helping someone fix a broken chain.

This seems like an apt metaphor the type of person he was.

Today I rode it backwards for the first time. #yegbike.

It's Sunday, cyclists.
The perfect day to take a bike ride.
You're probably wondering what to wear.

I have an idea. Join bikeology.ca. And get your fine self a shirt.👇

These also have smart ass quips on the back. So the drivers have a reason to honk their horn.

Rode down 96th st. in Delton the last couple mornings around 7:45. Bike lanes are going in. I kind of cherry picked these images, but there actually aren't a lot of cars that park on the street. I didn't see a single moving car on 96th all the way from 124th to 118th Ave on either morning.

I agree.
the CBC was founded as a bulwark against US cultural imperialism, to ensure we had canadian news and canadian culture.

there should be a renewed emphasis on that mandate, particularly to stop reporting so much on what happens in the US for eyeballs and ad dollars.

I was in my first formation flight yesterday! The Canadian Aviation Museum fleet (with @flightchops.bsky.social in his RV-14) did a flyover for a charity & I rode in the back of the Chipmunk (@peacewind.aero was in the back of the Harvard). I even got some stick time. More difficult than it looks!

Last year YEG spent $100k or more to completely redo the Rundle Park upper parking lot right by disc golf tee #1. And failed to add ANY bicycle parking. I ride the beautiful bike routes to get there from the west to lock up to sign posts that can be dismantled with a wrench?

It is frustrating that a significant portion of the episode is just people complaining (including the journalist) about random contruction-related issues that would be present regardless of the bike lanes, landscaping improvements, or pedestrianization that's happening.
