Finally finished a mending project I’ve been stuck on all month. This free tote bag I got in 2020 immediately became a favourite for grocery runs. After 4ish years of use, I needed to 1) darn some holes, 2) add a panel to the bottom, and 3) make shorter handles.

Before / after
I unexpectedly found 1.5 mm knitting needles at the thrift store last week. I’m excited to use them for something but first I need to get better at tensioning such itty bitty yarn. This will take some time. 🧶

seeing conservatives admit alex pretti was disarmed and need to change their message to “well you know where you won’t get shot? at home” is just an impressive level of pathetic allegiance to their dictator

Saw this gorgeous vintage cocoon coat at Value Village today. Crimson wool and mohair with a wide rolled collar and large floral buttons. Will be thinking about it for a long time.

Just found this 11-year-old Alberta-as-worker’s-paradise joke t-shirt from the 2015 provincial election. I did not anticipate the political environment we’d be in now but this reads in a very different way now that there’s a real (but deeply delulu) effort to make AB an independent petrostate.

I’m the new owner of a Singer 191J and while this isn’t my first vintage sewing machine, it’s my first cast iron machine and I was almost literally floored by its weight when it came out of the cabinet. It’s a very healthy 31 lbs, which is around 7 lbs heavier than my road bike.

Fort Rd and 132 Ave: not loving the transition between the SUP and one-way bike paths. If you're going south via the Fort Rd SUP and you want to go west on 132 Ave you need to cross 132, press a beg button, wait, cross Fort Rd, wait more, and then cross 132 Ave again to get on the right bike path.

There’s now a second, larger box in the grass between the SUP and the street. I guess that means the first box will be removed at some point? I don’t know. In the meantime the snow clearing is going exactly as you’d expect, they’re going around the box as if the SUP swerves to one side of it.
Seen on the new SUP on the north side of 137 Ave between the north and south-bound legs of Manning Drive. I thought the city had stopped doing this kind of thing. Surely there were other options? #yegbike

Value Village is not pricing their books with consideration to the fact that I’ve literally never found a book there that wasn’t also available for free at EPL or the Internet Archive’s library. I will not be buying a $7.99 book that still has a $1.99 sticker from the last thrift store that sold it.

Ew, the 82 St bike lane is windrow storage but then again you’re not actually supposed to bicycle on 82nd, you silly goose, so it’s fine. On the plus side several north side SUPs (not pictured) are looking good. #yegbike

Do you ever decide to sew something that will use up most of your four types of leftover black bias tape and then realize that not only do none of the four match each other in hue, you are also half a metre short in total and have to go to the store to buy more…
