I’m directly across the street from a street light but was still able to see the aurora :)

Hmm the “mindful driving” traffic safety campaign is still not yielding results, I see

A tiny bit of swiss darning to fix a pair of fleecy sweatpants. 60% of the way through I realized that dark grey would have been a better choice than white. Oops.

This is part of my winter biking base layer collection, which I think will be back in action sooner rather than later…

The latest item to graduate from my alterations pile is a knitted turtleneck dickey/bib that I bought for winter bicycling. It’s drapey to the point of sagginess (because superwash wool), so it wasn’t great at keeping my neck warm. I inserted 5 rounds of elastic thread and now it’s perfect.

153 Ave is now 100% complete! It’s actually been done for a little while but it was only today that I could get a picture while the sun was still up. Photo taken from the east side of the re-located electric box for a change.

I finally remembered that I can sew, so now my too-short pyjama sleeves have turn-up cuffs. 😌 And it only took [mumbling] years for me to get annoyed enough to make this fix.

Don’t mind the basting threads, I got too excited about posting. #garmentsewing

Made this diagram about angle parking to explain why I’m not into bike racks that are public art pieces first and bike parking second. No one does this to car parking; why do it to bike parking? It’s not like a standard staple-type bike rack is an eyesore.

Please, City of Edmonton, my bike and I are not cut out for gravel cycling ;-;

Not this being PACE’s real campaign platform 🫠 #yegvote

Where are people getting this idea that emergency vehicles will get stuck on 132 Ave??? Have they ever been to 132 Ave?

Not this again

All evening I’ve been thinking about how funny it is that I watched this film not even 24 h ago. I already thought it was topical (*gestures at news coverage from the last several days… months… years…*) but baby, today??

#bikerackrating at Northtown London Drugs: 1/10. It was impossible to lock my bike frame without orienting it parallel to the length of the rack. I spent quite a bit of time trying. 🥲

(sorry, there were no fingerless versions of pic 2)

I finally saw the crappy re-located rack near Castle Downs library being used as intended and I got annoyed all over again. #yegbike

How is this part of 153 Ave’s SUP still not complete? 😭 I assume it’s because a utility box (near top edge of photo) has to be moved, but damn. #yegbike

And baby barn swallows in a heart-shaped nest 🪹❤️

Saw the northeast river valley park, the footbridge, and the biggest cat-faced spider I’ve ever seen in my life today

Sorry to butt in, but 101 St is a low-traffic street with sharrows and green bike signs. No mobility lane. The news broadcast’s map of “existing bike lanes” is incorrect. 101 St, the 97 St service road, and the west segment of 119 Ave are all shared streets.

It’s not awesome but compare it with the rack beside the library that I no longer use because it went from bad to worse when the parking lot was repaved last summer 😬

Maybe I’ll start rating racks again… “Lakeside Landing” near the Castle Downs EPL branch: 4/10. I don’t enjoy triangle racks or having to drag my bike (carrying books or groceries) over the curb, but hey, at least a whole entire bicycle can fit on the provided island. #bikerackrating

First time travelling on this SUP since a median was added to this street. I assumed it was there to prevent speeding in the playground zone and protect ppl in the crosswalk. Now I see that there are also signs directing crosswalk users to yield? Seems confusing. Am I reading this wrong? #yegbike

I have no idea how well this mend at the neckline of my father’s favourite turtleneck will hold up (because I have never done this type of mending project; idk what I’m doing) but I’m really pleased by how discreet it turned out to be.

No photos of the before, but trust that it was not good.

SUP update: the pavement for SUPs on 153 Ave (82 St to Griesbach Rd) and 66 St (153 Ave to 137 Ave) is pretty much all there, but the concrete segments at some intersections along these two streets are still being constructed. #yegbike

Phoned my sister with the intent of speaking for 10 mins at most; was still on the phone an hour and a half later

That name sounds familiar… Don’t tell me they’re connected to “Stop the Destruction of Dunluce,” the group that wanted worse sidewalks in their neighbourhood 😀
