I think a Harry Potter adult might be the single most embarrassing thing you can possibly be. The dudes that write Nightmare Fuel pages for Nick Jr shows on TVTropes are cooler than you guys.

I was familiar with it before but actually sitting down to read Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is like discovering a new primary color. A bunch of Tom of Finland guys named, like, Grand Funk Railroad and Kiss Alive saying shit like "You actually thought decapitating me would slow me down? Foolish child."

Using gen ai for text and asset placeholders is not solving a problem; games have been made for decades with regular placeholders. studios using AI this way are just testing the water to see what more they can get away with - which will inevitably mean laying off skilled workers, to make worse games

Friendly reminder to remove the ?si= from the URLs you share from platforms.

I joke about "I'm not clicking that video you shared and messing up my algorithm," but that little URL query string is designed to convey "who shared this" and it helps form a link between you.

Which advertisers love.

Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.

I've made it a personal goal to stop using the term "content" when referring to media made by artists. The word implies mass-produced filler and calling someone's hard work their "content" has started to feel kinda like an insult. Like human art made strictly for quick consumption
the enthusiasm for generative AI would not have been possible without prior decades of capitalist conditioning to view works of art as products, rather than acts of culture and shared human life
I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.

Seeing people in the comments saying that To a T was unfun and essentially that he deserves this if he can't make a good game.

Gamers, I don't know how else to say this, artists are not supposed to be punished with financial ruin for making imperfect art. That's such a fucked up idea you have
Keita Takahashi (Katamari, Wattam, Noby Noby Boy) has moved back to Japan, and says he may be forced to quit the games industry due to To a T underperforming.

He also says he'd love to work on Katamari again, and for someone to invest in his studio.

Monster Mash
Monster Mash rock
From his slab rise
And to my surprise
He's mashing
And smashing
Up graveyards of fun
Now the Monster Mash has begun

heartbreaking: GACKT just made a good point
From the Stopped Clock Department: Japanese singer/probable vampire GACKT has come out against over-reliance on generative AI after Google's AI falsely reported a tsunami warning had ended. "Are there really idiots who rely on AI during a disaster?"

To accept and use this AI tech is to say I myself am so deeply incompetent and mediocre that a useless machine which cannot actually do the required work is still better than any effort I can make.

Seriously. Just stop.
