In a few hours I will fly out of Salt Lake City to begin a new chapter in Portugal. One doesn’t just suddenly wake up and say “I think I’ll uproot my life and move to a foreign nation”

Albo dedicated much of his political capital on a referendum for indigenous recognition and voice to parliament. We didn’t get there but tonight we saw that Australians did give him credit for trying.

For my non-Aussie friends, today is our national election day. We vote in a standardised process using paper ballots. Voting is mandatory. A near zero history of fraud or violence. One curious tradition is the democracy sausage, where community orgs raise funds by selling a sausage on white bread.
