Republican decisions are based on their belief that the purpose of government is NOT to help people---it is to CONTROL people.

The right completely fails to understand that national productivity (and security) succeeds and thrives when the mass of citizens are NOT terrified every second (of getting sick; of trying to deal with banks and insurance; of starving).

More productivity = more for all (even the billionaires!)
Sad that this is so useful to so many Americans (but that's the fact):

So he's admitting consumers pay the tariffs. Everybody warned him and now he's admitting he was wrong and all the economists were right. He literally should be politically crucified for the damage he's caused, the cost and the alienation.
Now he admits he's wrong why stop at foodstuffs?

Trump's MO. Cause a problem. Then pretend to solve it, and demand praise. 10 months and that's all he has done.

When your economic system funnels the fruits of worker productivity to those at the top, then the workers labor for long hours in order to live on the streets.

We do not have to keep this system in place.

But Republicans will NEVER change it.

The timing feels especially critical: this week the Trump administration moved to gut permanent housing programs nationwide. As the safety net is torn apart and the affordability crisis deepens, this report shows what's at stake for millions of people.

This was my first thought on hearing that Trump caved on some food-related tariffs: the grocery stores will NOT lower prices accordingly. Or maybe 10 cents here and 10 cents there, only.
Tariffs can be removed but prices will not go down. Companies that passed along the costs of tariffs will be more than happy to keep the price the same to improve their margins.

Prove me wrong.

GOP "logic":
The DOJ is suing to stop California’s redistricting map. Apparently vote approved maps are a problem, but partisan gerrymanders done without public input are just democracy working as intended?

In normal times, it would be a major scandal for the President to direct his AG to criminally investigate his political opponents to deflect from his own involvement in a major scandal — and for the AG to immediately announce she is doing it. The Epstein scandal and cover up just got even bigger.

honestly one of the most striking things about epstein's emails is the fact that the man, described in many places as "a genius," is essentially subliterate

Ditto for Trump “attempted assassinations”. It was barely a talking point right after it happen. Trump never talks about it. Considering he never shuts up about anything it’s weird. Same for Kirk’s assassination. 🤔
