[New Preprint] 3 days ago, we had a dive at Quaker Seamount -- and today we report the first results! We discovered a serpentinite-hosted seep ecosystem there + the first visible discharge of geofluids.

There are 400+ species of snailfish, including our bumpy friend here & many show adaptations to life in the very deep oceans: from the hadal to abyssal zones: 4,000 to 11,000 meters down.

Large eyes, no swim bladder are adaptations to the dark & crushing pressure.
