テナガホンヤドカリ Pagurus middendorffii Brandt, 1851
大槌湾では珍しい種ではないが、これまでに記録はない。大槌湾の海藻藻場に出現するヤドカリのなかでは、少し探すのにコツのいる種。海藻藻場が枯れた秋頃から少しずつ見かけるようになり、冬季に絶壁に近い岩礁斜面や、岩礁の頂上部で、海藻の根元を丁寧に見てまわると大型の個体を見つけることができる。小型個体は転石帯にも現れる。潮通しの良い係船場にも生息しており、カニかご（特採あり）で容易に採集できる。
右鉗脚が著しく大きいため、基本的に宿貝に引っ込むことはない。襲われると突き出した鉗脚を自切して逃走することもある。

研究の世界では、稀種と普通種の分布に関する情報の、網羅され具合が逆転することがあります。珍しすぎて、採集したら必ず報告を出したくなるような種がいる一方で、いつでも採れるような種の分布記録は後回し（というかやらない）になり、結果として専門家の感覚と実際に記録のある範囲にギャップができます。

報告する人がいない。岩手県はこのケース。県土に対して自然史系博物館も水族館は数えるほどしかなく、十分な研究機能のある施設はさらに少ないです。

今年の三陸の海はあったかい。1月でも水温が14°cあり 12月からほとんど下がっていなかった。このまま全然下がらないのかな と思ったら急激に9度まで落ちた。ソラスズメダイも見かけなくなった。
