Out cycling on this cold, frosty, but sunny morning and spotted quite a few Cowslips in flower… normally abundant by early April here in central France, but early March?!

I wasn’t expecting to find a cowslip in flower in my Devon garden today.

For the first time in weeks I’ve been able to spend time in my (still )very soggy garden. No doubt my back will be aching tomorrow!

So what happened to the very early flowering #cowslip in my #oxeyedaisyproject I first posted on 20th December 2025? Regardless of the hard #frost, #snow, rain & wind, it is still in #flower. Photos taken yesterday. With milder winters due to #climatechange #cowslips in December may become the norm.

I was taking my weekly photo number 302 of my #oxeyedaisyproject on 20th December & noticed what looked like rubbish from a distance so imagine my astonishment when it turned out to be a #cowslip. In west Kent, England #cowslips flower in April & May so this is very early! Warm weather is one reason

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

Good morning ☕️

There’s not much colour around at the moment and I’ve yet to see any late winter flowers, but here’s a little bit of winter colour I spotted, some dark red hawthorn berries. Have a wonderful weekend everyone ♥️🌿

This wintry weather is really zapping our wonderful wild plants!
Three cheers for everyone who braved the elements to hunt for flowers & post them here for #WildFlowerHour.
Have a great week, keep warm, see you next Sunday!

Just a quick local walk today to see what I could find for #wildflowerhour as been poorly all weekend.

Incredibly, 18 species in flower found (list in Alt) - didn't expect to get #thewinter10 today with the stormy weather. I particularly loved this pristine Lesser Celendine, and a bonus Firecrest!
