There wouldn't have been a new BSBI website without months of sterling work by the amazing @anthophiledreams.bsky.social, our ace IT guy James Drever & the fabulous @sarahelizwoods.bsky.social who led the website redevelopment team.
3 wonderful BSBI colleagues supporting our botanical community!
This is what's been consuming my time at work for the last couple of months (just as a small part of a fantabulous team). Content migration only obviously!

It's so exciting to see it go live! And it's so pretty...

Fumitories (Fumaria spp.) are a very tricksy group, but see what happens if you put Fumaria into the improved search facility on our new website:
bsbi.org/search?q=Fum...
You get 6 pages of links to Fumaria species accounts with info, maps & which Rare Plant Registers each species occurs in. Try it!
Common Ramping-fumitory Fumaria muralis found today in Braishfield, Hampshire. A tricksy group indeed: a few flowers with notably oblong sepals reminiscent of Purple Ramping-fumitory F. purpurea. @bsbibotany.bsky.social

On our new website, check out all the fabulous photos of plants & people!
In the header is a pic of @danryannature.bsky.social & daughter Ada on a #NewYearPlantHunt last year.
We also used images (like this stunning Grass-of-Parnassus) entered into our Photo Competition: bsbi.org/take-part/ac...

@bsbibotany.bsky.social late for #wildflowerhour but very early for spring!
Very surprised to have just found Cowslip (Primula veris) in flower here in East Lothian, Scotland. An unusual time of year for this species to be flowering.

Given my home parch is devoid of mistletoe, I make a point of looking out for it when visiting family in Hertfordshire. These ones were on some sort of maple, which was a bit unexpected.

The countdown to my 1st book being published is almost unbearably exciting, & there's been so much to learn. I've kept a #1stBookDiary along the way, & here's diary ch 1. #naturewriting #creativewriting #urbannature #publishing #non-fiction freelancenaturewriter.com/2025/11/13/c...
Chapter 1 – the proposal
One chilly Thursday in December 2023, I was volunteering in my local nature reserve, Sydenham Hill Wood. Over lunch round folding tables, I confessed to my friend Chris, fellow volunteer and writer…

Some surprising finds for tonight's #WildFlowerHour!
Winter Heliotrope pix might suggest that it's winter but thanks to the sharp-eyed @wildflowerhour.bsky.social community, we have sightings of Basil Thyme, Bog Rosemary, Bulbous Buttercup & Large-flowered Hemp-nettle in bloom.
Thanks for sharing!
