White prison guards at Marcy Prison in upstate NY killed Robert Brooks (incarcerated in a nearby prison) while other guards & a nurse looked on on December 10.

Video released today shows them kicking, punching & choking him while he is cuffed & shackled, blooded & unresponsive.

Didn't see any New York Post articles about the judge in the Chanel Lewis murder trial who repeatedly wore purple in apparent solidarity with the family of Karina Vetrano's family who also wore it every day of his trial (it being her favorite color).

Luigi Mangione oddly wears matching outfit with his lawyer in NYC court hearing — to his sick fans’ delight
It’s a killer outfit. Accused CEO assassin Luigi Mangione strode into a Manhattan courtroom Monday clad in attire that oddly matched the ensemble of his lawyer Karen Friedman Agnifilo. The gr…

The purpose of an arraignment is to decide whether a person will be held in jail pending trial, released, or if bail will be set (in jurisdictions that have it).

The only time a person pleads guilty at arraignment is on a misdemeanor/infraction (if it will get them out before the next court date).

“Lost control.”

Homicide down 8%
Shootings down 4%
Total major crime down 2.5%

Arguing by horrible anecdote. The subway burning was horrific. But homicides are still down, no matter what the fearmongerers say.
The Atlantic is now laundering crappy right-wing takes from Manhattan Institute fellows who live in the DC suburbs.

The Fascists can’t seem to understand that a suspect who had zero rap sheet literally sat in front of the cops while they responded to this and calmly walked away. We already have the National Guard on the subway! Do you want us to bomb it?

This shouldn't be a controversial take but Biden should have commuted the sentences of everyone on death row, even those there for the most despicable crimes.

The state executing anyone, even Dylann Roof, diminishes the humanity of all of us.

Biden commutes most federal death sentences before Trump takes office
President Joe Biden changed the sentences of 37 of the 40 inmates on death row to life without parole, saying he was convinced “that we must stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level.”

NYU Campus Security and Administration is totally out of control.

On Wednesday - I filmed a peaceful protest in Bobst library for two hours.

Yesterday at 2pm while at home,
I received an email explaining that I’ve been designated “persona non grata” and banned from several buildings on campus.

Two Very Different Manhattan Murder Investigations

So I am sure the same people upset about the reaction to CEO Brian Thompson's death are equally outraged by Daniel Perry and his lawyers toasting to his acquittal for killing Jordan Neely by choking him to death on the subway?

It’s now come out that the woman he assaulted was his daughter.

One thing I hope we can do as Bluesky gets larger is be less tolerant of the resistance grifters who will try to hack the platform for engagement and growth without any interest in adding anything substantive or meaningful

It’s a different kind of troll.

Black Twitter is the reason this app blew up and Aveta deserves so much credit for all the community building she’s done on here! The big posters are fun but if you’re writing about this app your story can’t just be about them
When a reporter actually cares to respect Black people's impact like we did on TikTok as we do everywhere, not gonna bother reading more articles lol
