Our article (led by @chris-noone.bsky.social) covering (some of) the failings of the Cass report is now available. We identified all included reviews as having a high ROB and highlight major methodological flaws, ultimately suggesting Cass' findings should not guide policy.

As a team that includes trans and non-binary people we know any criticism we make of Cass will be seen as ideological

This is why we grounded our work in a methodical critique, using established tools

Whilst our identities still matter, this is about the poor and biased application of methodology
Just out! Our peer-reviewed critique of the Cass Review has been published by BMC Medical Research Methodology. Please read and share. We show that the Cass Review is fatally flawed and should not be the basis for policy or practice in transgender healthcare.

Proud to have been apart of this team. Research methodology matters. Policy should be based on methodologically sound research. Our results show the many methodological flaws of the Cass Review. Check it out ⬇️

It took us over a year to get this thing out through a peer review process because actual review takes time. Actual, non-bribed, non compromised review goes through iterations, and anything that went through "peer review" in a suspiciously short time is suspect.

Anywho, the Cass Review is busted.

The Cass Review gets peer reviewed and absolutely shredded

Cass is the Wakefield of our time. A scandal in broad daylight

As said in another post, I’m delighted to have contributed with amazing authors to this peer-reviewed paper highlighting deep methodological flaws in the Cass report

Too often this is upheld as a perfect example of evidence based medicine, when in truth there are clear and worrying inconsistencies

It got identified as the next wedge issue after gay marriage and the American right started covertly funneling money to the tiny minority of UK bigots in order to help mainstream their position. They picked up some famous converts and now they're reaping the rewards. It's entirely manufactured.
Not going mad am I, when I say that I'm sure trans rights was less of a vocal issue say 15 years ago? Like trans people were more accepted weren't they? The silly slang terms always existed, but they were treated better weren't they? What exactly changed to embolden the more open awful treatment?

Trans women are < than 1 in 1,000 people

Statistically the most dangerous person in a woman’s life is a man she already knows and shares a home with

Nothing about today changes this fact

This is a manufactured well-funded plan to radicalise you & normalise far right ideology

Today’s ruling makes no-one safer. It makes vulnerable people more vulnerable, and does nothing to protect women from the epidemic of male violence

The time wasted harassing, legislating and controlling such a small population of the UK only makes sense through a lens of bigotry

Unfortunately the only way to interpret this sort of violence is to admit that queer lives are not seen as valuable

Streeting stating he will implement the Sullivan review recommendations should worry every medic and every scientist involved in health data. We are increasingly seeing the influence of far right exclusionary beliefs impacting health services & monitoring. Will @bma.org.uk respond?

The healthcare community has to be outraged against this. Surely this is enough to make you see that there is a systematic erasure of healthcare for these groups
Restricting the publication of evidence and research is the pinnacle of violence which weaponises knowledge systems #lgbtq #meded #health
