I have a strong personal angle on Labour’s proposal of potentially returning refugees to their country of origin up to 20 years after they are granted asylum, which is appalling. It treats human lives as administrative errors to be corrected decades later.

Stella your party is attacking the disabled, immigrants, trans people, forcing digital ids, destroying the environment, refusing to tax billionaires, paying off failed utilities, and privatising the NHS. They'd rather be red reform than progressive. You've lost me to the greens

Just wilful performative cruelty that is entirely out of step with the majority of British people.

How many Labour MPs got into politics in order to vote for stealing jewellery off of people seeking refuge from war and persecution?

Why can I remember no Labour politician making this point, this well?

Everybody except the Greens seems to think the best way to fight Reform is to agree with Farage about everything.

This, right here, is brilliant. And genuinely patriotic. And so, so true.

Well that's the trouble. We did. We voted out the Tories, only to get a government that now does the same or worse. It's not hard to see why people feel like giving up on politics.
Vote them out. Replace them with something better. Or stay home and order pizza and scroll cats on Insta while demanding universal basic income and complaining about politics. But you can't have both #Democracy

This is frankly terrifying. This poor woman wasn't even expressing support for PA
She was arrested for holding a sign reading:

“I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action”

How that would warrant arrest is very unclear. I wonder if the police here even understand the boundaries of the bizarre law they’ve been forced to enforce.

This is grim & dangerous over reach.

This is a government that have lost the moral argument & are still selling arms to Israel. Now further cracking down on dissent.

Absolutely the opposite of what they should be doing - so of course this is what the Labour Government choose.
NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.

What a great use of police resources. All these police to arrest a man holding a sign because he opposes genocide.

I suppose, whilst the Met police are out doing this they're not breaking the law in the stations, so on balance maybe it is keeping the net crime rate down
About 50 cops to arrest one man in a wheelchair.

I'm glad we have our priorities right.

These are some of the most extreme restrictions on immigration in years. We're told to see them as benign because they're less bad than Farage's far-right extremism. But they are still terrible.
Mahmood says she will introduce new conditions for indefinite leave to remain:

Lived here 10 years not 5
Being in work
Not taking a penny in benefits
No criminal record
Giving back to community eg volunteering
